i just went from a amd duron to an amd athlon (750mhz
compared to 1500Mhz) with a shitload more ram and such.
using xp now (even though ME didnt bug up once) - but my
point is: ive been doing a lot of sound editing and i can
work twice as fast now. b/c the computer is not a pussy.;
computers that are not pussies are nice to be around. (of
cousre some g5 slinger is gonig to probably promptly tell me
how my computer is a pussy).

Your computer > my computer.

I really want a G5. It takes me 40 minutes to render a 10
second long 3D animation in after effects at full ntsc
resolution. This 466 mhz g4 is past its prime.

I've been browsing the 26DD market for some time now. What
I'm really looking for is is a used pentium T16, sold by
itself. All I can find so far though are the T16's sold
together as a bundle with the 3d grafix 41Omega modem, but I
already have one of those. This baby can run at almost 800
kg, right now but probably at least 950 kg if I can get a
Mereco 4 installed (I'm hoping to "borrow" one of these from
the place I work soon).

im glad audio is easier on processing and space than video,
animations, etc. its insane how much space it gobbles
instantly w/ high res film.

Yeah, high res film can be very inefficient. That's why I've
been using low res film lately, only instead of 35mm, I just
switched to 40 mm. I can't believe the difference in pdi. It
also increases the processor bandwidth because the video has
an output to there as well as from there.
