Its impossible to find any topics here that discuss acutal
manga (not anime!) so i thought i'd start a new one. So any
reccomendations? Some of my faves are:

Appleseed
Ghost in the Shell
Battle Angel Alita
Uzumaki (my fave so far)

Currently i'm reading the .Hack manga which is surprisingly
good! Really great concept.

Whats Chobits like?

oh and how did people think the FLCL manga compared with the
anime? I've borrowed the manga off a friend, haven't read it
yet though.

chobits manga shit all over the anime, I think they had to
cut the anime short without any notice or something, it's
simply incomplete

I collect everything masamue shirow I possibly can, lots of
art books and things too, I'd send some pics, but I'm not at
my place at the moment, and my modems dead, so I couldn't
when I get home anyway, I'll see what I can remember

I have,... umm,.......

Chobits
Angelic Layer
Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Shell Man Machine Interface
Intron Depot 1 (masamune shirow art book)
Intron Depot 3
Black Magic
Orion
Shadow Lady (Missing first book I got bits and peices of it
in the serial manga form though)
Mahoro Art Book
Chobits Art Book
art book from the guy who designed the characters in the
anime "plastic little" if you've ever seen it

I know there more, I also have shitload of manga on my
computer too, but it's really badly sorted '_-

I remembered seeing some good reviews for it somewhere so i
flicked through it yesterday in the shop and it looked
pretty good. I really like the artwork and the story seems
interesting. Might pick it up next time i'm there.

Battle Angel Alita (i prefer to call it Gunnm ^^):
definitely great... btw there are two endings to the first
manga series, a happy one which leads to a happy end of the
story, and a sad one which leads to the next series: Gunnm
Last Order... in france the happy one was in the 9-volume,
little format series, and the sad one in the 6-volume, big
format ones : )

about Chobits... and about every manga by Clamp i've read so
far, there is something like a "Clamp syndrome": great when
you read them for the first time, but when you re-read them
it loses a lot and becomes tedious... it's manga to read
just once. i don't know why is this, but it is an effect i
get with every Clamp manga - so now i've stopped reading
Clamp... *shrugs* ' _ '

i like Genzo the marionnetist a lot too, by Yuzo Takada (the
author of 3x3 Eyes).

my brother likes Agharta a lot, and it seems like a very
nice one but i can't get the scenario, maybe i'm dumb but
the scenario is very complicated and hard to follow... ^^

i like the graphic styles of Tsutomu Nihei and Shirow
Masamune a lot, even though they both suffer from the same
flaw: their characters (especially the girls with Shirow!)
all look too much similar =)
but they're great graphists nonetheless.
i haven't started reading 'Blame!' yet, but 'Noise' is
pretty good... (a one-shot, and maybe somewhat of a prequel
to Blame!)

the FLCL manga is also very good, original and all... not
very long, but a good read : )
(i also tried reading the Cowboy Bebop manga, the scenarios
are quite good and quite faithful to the spirit of the
series (even if they're simpler) but the graphics are really
poor...)

The plot is definitely one of the best things about it, and
the "book" sequences are a headfuck, especially near the end

mmmm. manga. delicious. the only stuff i'm really keeping up
with at the moment is naruto and berserk (as
soon as the next one comes out, those bastards!). naruto is
awesome. dunno how many of you are familiar with the anime,
but the manga is pretty much the same thing. not a lot of
difference between the two, really. and berserk...is just.
wow. the fucking coolest bit of anything in the world.
what's not to like?

i'm also picking up trigun as it's being released over here.
good stuff. i've read FLCL (have the books), and i quite
enjoy them. they're very different, yes, but still very
cool. saishuuheiki kanojo (saikano) was very good. i read
that after seeing the anime, and it wasn't too different.
still really cool, though.

i don't get around to much manga, actually. i'm too busy
with anime. heh. but for those of you unfamiliar with
berserk, i really suggest you look into it. it's my
favourite (you'll need bittorrent, however, to download
anything from these guys). happy reading!

i had meant to say something earlier, but Refund is my man
w/ that Mahoromatic avatar. that manga sould be coming out
later this year, and i believe there is also a Mahoro Summer
Special anime on the way.

i've been much into the manga lately. the Suncoast near me
puts the new one on the shelf up to almost two weeks before
they come out sometimes!

my small collection is of:

.hack//Legend of the Twilight (great!)
A.I. Love You
Ai Yori Aoshi
Azumanga Daioh (one of the funniest things out there)
Happy Lesson (the anime is better than the manga)
Love Hina (manga so much better than the anime!)
Megatokyo (American cult web manga turned phonomenon)
etc.

there are plenty i'm planning on getting when they come out
soon like Mahoromatic or Negima.

i like Naruto : )

lately i've discovered a new manga called "Ray", it's
expensive (every manga is expensive but this one is even
more T_T) but good... check it out if it's out where you
live...it's about a female doctor, who used to be a child
kidnapped for organ traffic, her eyes had been sold but he
was saved by someone who transplanted eyes to her... and now
she is exercing medicine, illegally but very skillfully -
and trying to find the doctor who saved her, she doesn't
know who he is...

it's pretty realistic but not totally, there are some almost
surnatural things going on - yet even those are described an
almost "natural" way.. and it feels pretty real when you
read it, not too happy/crazy nor too dramatic but without
being boring or bland...

(sorry for my bad english^^)
