who knows/like them here? =)

"SUNN 0))) is a side project of Khanate/Burning Witch
(Steve O' Malley) and Goatsnake (Greg Anderson) members. It
was formed in memory of the cult drone-riff founders EARTH
and honors the beautiful Ozma. The SUNN0))) mission is to
create trance like soundscapes with the ultimate low
end/bottom frequencies intended to massage the listeners
intenstines into a act of defecation. SUNN 0))) have
gathered 2x for live performances, at which they have
succesfully made audience members instantly nauseous, or
better yet run for the toilet in terror.

The powers that be contracted the heaviest low end
destructors SUNN 0))) to create the most subharmonic drone
recording ever put to tape. A test impossible for most
mortals. Prepare your sound system!"

(but apart from side effects, i like their music. ^^)

i've heard some of their songs but i'm not that familiar
with them. what album would you recommend? i'm really into
Earth.

they are very good, i almost bought White 1 on cd but im
holding off and buying the vinyl version which has an added
track and really nice packaging+ white vinyl.

by the way, Earth is going to release something new this
year!

r40f > i haven't bought an album yet, i'm discovering! but i
will buy one soon... i'm thinking of buying Flight Of The
Behemoth. (it's the best rated on AMG, has a nice cover art
- well, all their albums i've seen have nice cover art -...
and there are two tracks in collaboration with Merzbow too)

i don't know Earth well, i've just heard one or two sound
samples but from what i've heard i prefer Sunn 0))) : )

Good, but I don't listen to them often. I like to get really
stoned and listen to them loud on headphones. Get flight of
the behemoth, which also has two remixes by merzbow on it.

I can see how you must feel elated in finally disclosing
your longtime-repressed homosexuality, but it does get
rather tiresome reading that you are indeed "gay".

We all know now, and we all accept.

now let's move on.

i prefer 00 void to flight of the behemoth, the opening
track being monumental! tho both are very very good.

imo the Sunn O)) is better than Earth .. building on the
sound of Earth and adding new subtleties. and being even
heavier of course! :-)

i really need white-1 don't i?

i personally think very little of what i've heard by Earth.
I was trying to track down a nice track off the documentary
Kurt & Courtney, and, in thinking that it was an Earth
track, downloaded some of their stuff (after a lot of
effort). Needless to say it wasn't their stuff that I was
after, and what I did get (crooked axis for string quartet /
tallahassee) was quite shite and boring.

Nope, the speakers were alright. Very loud, very heavy, a
dirge of bass. But it progressed too slow for my liking, and
there was incredibly little variation/texture to the
performance. A friend of mine really enjoyed it though,
these things are so subjective... I just didn't enjoy the
extreme monotony in a live setting.

I think Steve O' Malley was a writer in Metal Maniacs
some years ago, also he was involved with the artwork of
some black metal bands

Black metal bands have the worst artwork of all the genres,
I think, although the stuff Steven O Malley has done for

And I stood upon Wan’s Dyke
And I did survey the land
And I did become the Reaper with my own bare hands...

And then I was King Vikar with his arms outstretched
And then I was King Vikar with his broken neck
And then I was the villain and the victim and the priest
Was grim misunderstanding and was grim as death itself

My Wall My Wall caught in the thrall of my Wall
My Wall My Wall caught beneath the thrall of my Wall.

Here in the bloodlust deeper scar
For here be the wall of Johnny Guitar
Here in the bloodlust deeper scar
For here be the wall of Johnny Guitar
Play your gloom axe Stephen O’Malley
Sub bass ringing the sides of the valley
Sub bass climbing up each last ditch and combe
Greg Anderson purvey a sonic doom.

I finally checked them out. I've downloaded White 1 and
Black One and prefer the latter. It's like listening to
ambient generally, but with a little bit of Neurosis feel.
That kind of puts me off.

found the music very boring live to be honest, not enough

i saw them live and i'd say their structure live is pretty
much the same to that on albums..the only difference is the
heavy sound you experience live. and well, some details get
more space on records, but overall it's pretty much the same
thing.

thats a shame, as there is definitely some potential
there...

there was atmosphere for a while, bit that turned to boredom
after the same distorted riff was repeated over and over....

i may try out a studio album sometime though, any
recommendation of which one to try?
