Anyone know a really good source of really classic drum &
bass samples. I've just never been able to find one - you
know all the classic sounds.

Whatever it is you're going to do with those samples i.e.
use them in a track.

Hahaha.. I was only messing around.

I'm just a little tired of hearing old-school jungle samples
that's all.. I want to hear something fresh.

A page about Jungle breaks
This is kinda interesting and shows where the breaks were
sourced from. They're in wav format

Does anyone know where I can get good high quality loops
of:
The Sniper break,
The tighten up break
The Shack up break

I'm gunna make some proper dnb, in the style of Torque,
because on a recent visit to a record shop, I realised that
dnb was rapidly turning into a parody of itself.

My samples are 22.5khz which is poo, I want cd quality baby!

Thanks for the links....
Now I've got a decent quality Shack up break
I also remembered that the sniper break isnt from funk
records but from trace's sniper so I sampled it from my
copy.
(I think he combined amen with something...anyway)

But I still need the tighten up break!!
Anyone?

Oh and I'm not resorting to amen, since after remarc and
amen andrews, and almost every song ever, I think its been
just a tad overdone.

LAZY_TITLE

here is a site with some decent breaks

the guy who runs it says he used them when he was starting
up as a D&B guy

very good samples (i reckon so anyways)

If you're sick of the amen I take it you don't like
squarepusher.

I own just about every manipulation of the amen break on
vinyl. Some bits are better than other, and squarepusher is
quite good at altering it, but when it comes to it, its not
progressing anything, since soon after it was first used in
jungle, it was transposed to hell, reversed, slowed, speeded
up, resequenced, so its old and there are better breaks
which you can drive a song with then just use the amen as a
filler. e.g. torque (best dnb ever)

Also I was listening to some of my favourite dnb (old
prototype 12"s) and most of them use different breaks, e.g.
optical-moving 808s/hit tek dreams,
dillinger+cybotron-lightyears, trace-sonar (hell thats just
a 909 and its excellent)

I've been playing a lot of aphex at half speed lately
including that new mangle 11 and noticed 'funky drummer'
kicks in about halfway through. At normal speed it sounds
like a tropical bird but in fact a James Brown scream. Aside
from this break I've never identified any others in his
tunes but suspect he's used a lot on drukqs. Any guesses?

That program Hammerhead has some of the real classics, you
can rip it from there.

Ive managed to get good enough selections of all 3 breaks
now. thanks for the links :)

RDJ uses tons of breaks, but he uses them in subtle ways.
He doesn't just go and drive his song off of an amen like
squarepusher. mangle11 (circuit bent vip) is probably my fav
song. if it wasn't designed to be the last song of the night
at a gig/club, Ill eat my hat.

Thats the thing about afx, his songs are great, without a
doubt, but when you look at things like drukqs, esp tracks
like cock/ver10 and breakbeat types, you see how much work
has gone into them, completely sequenced and programmed up
the arse.
I hope it doesn't turn out it was computer generated, cos I
thought some of confield was jawdroppingly well programmed,
until I found out about the generative sequences, then I was
very dissapointed.

I recommend Vodhosbn at half speed. The detail of
programming is amazing.

It would make sense to me if he did his drum programming at
this (manageable) speed and then double the bpm to record
melodic stuff but then...I don't know...it's a bit over my
head really. I wouldn't have the patience (or skill).

What's generative sequences?
