which ones would you pick?:
1) Infinity Alpha 40CH (3 way speaker, 20-200 W RMS, 8 ohm)

or

2) jbl xti 80 (3 way speaker, 250 W , 6 ohm)

thanks.

Infinitys alpha series have gone out of production. They are
good speakers, but if you want to buy surround or something
later on, don't buy them, as the rest of your system will
have to be from another manufacturer.

i would go for JBL, with these two choises, although there
are many other speakers in the same price-range that are
better.

but actually, I can't seem to find the XTI-series on JBL's
homepage neither. maybe they too have gone out of
production...

so if i don't want surround later on, infinity is a better
option?

i just found some store that apperantly sell both; dali and
b&w - i'll go check next week
but im having a feeling these could be quite expensive...
i could get those infinity or jbl's for about 700 eur (a
pair).
and thanks for helping :)

well.. i'll try to deal even more insight. My parents have
the Infinity Alpha 40s. They bought them not long ago
(knowing they were out of production, because they only
wanted stereo, and the alpha 40s have won several tests),
and they are great. The sound is crystal clear. The only bad
thing is that they are kind of hard to place.. they have to
be placed at a special distance from the walls and things
like that.

The good thing about speakers out of production is that the
price gets reduced (and.. you don't need to worry about
spare-parts, because those will always be available, even
though the speaker has gone out of production, so if you
blow them, they can be repaired).

The bad thing about discontinued speaker-lines, is that
there mostly is a reason for them being out of production.
Maybe they're technology has been improved in a newer
version or something..

I, personally, have the Audiopro Focus SA-5s, and they are
great as well. Even though they are not three-way, they go
deeper on the bass and higher on the treble than the
Alphas.. for some reason, they have a HUGE frequency-range.
They are also easy to place.

I also have some B&Ws standing in my room (they're my
brothers, but he is in africa), and although it is a little
older model, the sound is pretty good (even though they are
even more hard to place than the infinitys).

Dali-speakers almost ALWAYS get good reviews. It is a good
brand, but they are a bit expensive, and the audiopros have
just as good sound, just at a lower price (maybe because
with the Dalis you have to pay a bit for brand and design..
the Audiopros may not look like much, but the sound is
GREAT!)

the price and specs...
