i think i'm at that point...where i'm sick of my job, sick of school, sick of my surroundings, just plain sick of it all. has anyone else ever felt like this? i just don't want to go through the motions of finishing college, get a job, and then work my life away. i mean all that would be fine...i just want to live a little first. do something drastic. hope a plane to a foreign country and live there for awhile or something. anything. i'm just sick of my boring life. bleh. i don't know....share your stories of similar angst..

I dunno, a lot of people I know who did the whole "go travelling, discover myself, do some poxxy odd jobs for a few years" thing don't seem to of benefited from it. They seem bitter when the money runs out and due to a lack of skills, experience and qualifications end up having to do more gash jobs to get cash together for the next bout of travelling/partying/whatever.
Sure, money/comfort isn't the be all and end all of life, not by a long way, but it'd suck to be 30 and not have any sort of pension/savings/mortage paid and be working in another "for the next couple of months" job.
I got fed up of college during my second year, but I realised the practicalites of throwing in the towel. I'd still have the debt associated with a degree, but without any of the benefits of the qualificationSo, I opted to take a years placement (it was optional) and worked for about 18 months, getting experience, living in a new city and managing to pay off some of my debt, as well as buy some new toys.
What are your hobbies/interests? Any chance you could switch your course to that and keep your existing credit? How about taking a part time job/volunteering in an area that interests you?

yeah, my original intent was a kind of "fuck it all" attitude to leave and never come back but i've thought about it and that's not the best idea. i think just a year or two off would be best. i'm really interested in photography and have thought about studying that. even if i do that i would still want to transfer out of state. but that would be a life plan i could live with....get to travel a lot (depending on my career i guess) and have constantly different experiences.

travel, meet people and make music with them!

Check with your college, you may be able to put your degree "on hold" for couple of years- you can come back and continue where you left off. Maybe do a short course in photography elsewhere in the interim?
