has anyone here actually quit smoking??? i just went for a 5 minute jog and had a horrible asthma attack, even tho i havn't had one in like 3 years.
I wanna try to be more healthy and go for runs every morning and stuff (so far i've been doing well ie: i cut down on drinking so much, do yoga all the time)... but i always feel HORRIBLE after running, cause i cough up shit and can't breathe for like 10 minutes.
so my question is: do you think it's easier to cut down, or quit cold turkey?
(i know there was another thread about this not too long ago but i couldn't find it.

I quit smoking, I smoked for almost 9 years a pack a day. Its hard to do, but at the same time its not very hard to quit. Even when I was smoking as much as I was.

started smoking in 1994 quited on 2002
I smoked 20 cigs a day
I quited cos I really wanted to, if you dont want to quit, its impossible.
but think of this:
why going on with an addiction that is killing you? why if its also very expensive? why do you want to keep on being a slave of this great tobacco industry?
do you really like the taste? NO

I'm glad I was smart enough never to start smoking cigs. Most of my friends do it and they're too stupid to realize how pointless it is.

tragedy:..... the drinking and smoking thing is just in your head, trust me.. I had the same problem, but then i realized it wasnt a problem..... so whatever youll get over it
and just DONT smoke.... it can be a easy as that, just dont give in to your cravings.. really I mean it, you have control over your arm and your fingers to pick up and light that smoke, if you do otherwise then you dont really want to stop smoking.

I've never smoked, but I figure it'll just take time... just keep at it and I'm sure you'll start to feel great when you jog...
I've been working out the last week or so, and it's great... I enjoy it...

My mom's been trying to quit for years, and she's no wimp. So I know it must be tough to ween yourself off the cancer sticks. I'm glad I was/am such a goody two shoes and never got into that silliness. Phew!
