is true. i never thought i would be excited about my
computer crashing (finally, only took a year and a half),
but alas, when it did yesterday, i was. luckily i backed up
my pictures two weeks ago. i only lost a few things, but
they weren't all that important.

now my computer is all clean and new feeling! it's like i
just got it yesterday!

note to everyone: BACK UP YOUR FILES OR YOU WILL BE SAD.

to back up my files? 8-)

burn to cd-r, or get an external harddrive. definately a
good idea. i'm a designer and i would have lost everything
if i hadn't backed up. whew! i've only used 7.45 Gb on my
60Gb drive!

i just finished restoring my hdd too, had to back up around
17 gb to seperate harddrives, took forever cuz i had to send
it all through a pci raid controller with no udma or
anything. took me around 4 hours sending the files each way.

formating you're harddisk after backing up you're files
lookes nice, but not when you've got an old pc wich runs
only windows 98 and you can't find the drivers for your
hardware, cost me about a week to find the right driver for
my video cart, then i gave up because my great brother
offered me his old pc. wich was great afterall cause now
i've got a muchos better pc; yes!

You own3d your computer! I remember I backed up all my
stuff, then my hard drive collapsed in a bloody heap. But I
felt like the winner there. I've been burned too many times.

i never feel like my computer is "clean" after
reformating... it's always ugly, i have to have my own
personalized settings and wallpaper (and, when i was still
under mac os 9, kaleidoscope;... ah, i miss
kaleidoscope!!).

i always get sick and depressed when i have problems and
have to reformat.

everything i download gets burnt onto cd, and i have a
120gig hdd for DATA/Stuff and a 40gig drive for the OS and
programs.
So there is no real heart ache! Just lose a bit of time when
i have to reformat/reinstall shit!

'.i always get sick and depressed when i have problems and
have to reformat.''

So do I. The worst is downloading all the programs you need,
reinstalling Winamp and God knows what else, copying your
files back... I'd rather perish.

when you have a mac you don't need to worry about these
things. Can't remember the last time my mac crashed. Still,
I do back up... just in case.
