what a great book. now that i've read it i like the movie a
lot less than i did previously. they basically cut out all
the plot and the whole point of the story! oh
well.

did Heinlein write any sequels to this? or did another
author? i want more!

Isn't it ironic that the book influenced Blade Runner which
in turn influenced the film of Startship Troopers?

originally published in like '59 or something like that.
pretty impressive.

one of the only things i liked in the movie that i didn't
like in the book was that the movie had female infantry. i
don't know why i liked it, just thought it 'worked'.

the storyline in the book about his father is particularly
touching, i thought.

the movie is still cool for what it is: a visual spectacle.
they did awesome with the effects, and it's exciting on that
level alone.

I agree, the acting is kinda lame by some (Michael
Ironside's a pimp though) but the effects and action are
still cool as fuck. I have heard the book is better though,
and I saw it a bookstore a while back and should have bought
it.

Michael Ironside's a pimp though

guys, starship troopers the movie is a satire; its a
piss-take on america's society/values
and a good one i'd say

Paul Verhoeven's movies

Hahah, totally.

The robocop death scene is fucking crazy, I watched it on
mushrooms. He gets shot like 100+ times at point blank
range and then in the head. And yet he still has a pulse
when they rush him to the hospital. Like, LOL>

I preferred the movie, the book was great and had (from what
I remember) interesting political views but the movie is a
blast. Kill that brain bug Doogie!

yeah, what was wrong with the movie?

I'm listening to an audiobook of Stranger In A Strange Land
which is pretty cool, but I think I'll have to start reading
it cos a guy doing female voices just kindof ruins it
