oh and the way this cd is arranged with a bunch of variety
and oddity-ness in it along with bytes (take for instance
the bolt tracks on spanners and the phil tracks on bytes)
quite reminds of the arrangement of double figure (with the
tak tracks and all)

double figure is my favorite of all plaid cds

08 tahr

5/5, please amazing track. productions good throughout this
release, just most of the songs don't get to me that well,
except this one, and the first one.

head and shoulders above anything plaid or black dog or
pretty much anyone else have done since.
whoever said what about psil-coysin etc a few posts back is
spot on.
and chesh is simply mesmerising.
absolute masterpiece . excellent from start to finish.

The acid in psil-cosyin is 1st class. The other version on
the peel session has even more in it though.

I'm not a fan of spanners I prefer bytes but I prefer far
more Plaid than Black Dog, their sound is a bit dated if I
must choose something quite similar I prefer first Orb or
Orbital

It's fun to finally listen through some of those classic
electronica albums one sort of missed out on back in the
days and find an old thread about it here.

I don't know why I didn't get this one, but I guess money
was tight and aphex, autechre and seefeel released too
frequently for me to catch up with everything that was going
on at the time. Spanners does indeed sound a bit dated, but
not in a way that puts me off. There is enough stuff going
on here for it to not get boring and all the stuff that is
going on is done very well.

Spanners is still a classic in 2008 - pushing 14 years...
