all awards ceremonies are a bit ambiguous/pointless really.
its all about people within the industry congratulating one
another.
i dont really see how you can compare most of the films in
question to one another - they are so generically
different.

as for them being 'posh' etc. dont play the working class
hero. wearing a suit doesnt make you upper class.

Just once, just once, I'd like to see an actor accept
an award with some slight degree of dignity. This
bawling/turning it into a policitcal speech/spending 10
minutes listing everyone involved on the film/cracking
cheesy jokes is so lame.

yeah.
they can't win though really. if theyre short + curt they
get slated for being cold + if they try to make something of
it they get slated for being self indulgent.
i agree with you about crying/joking.. theyre actors, not
comedians - some seem to be naturally quite funny people,
but theyre never the ones that insist on making jokes.
as for bawling.. it must be emotional sometimes after the
amount of themselves they put into their project - but if i
was going to cry infront of all those people - id keep it
short+get off.
there must be a lot of pressure for them to list their crews
on there. after all - a lot of the time they wouldnt be up
there without those people. its kind of the equivalent of
credits inside album sleeves.. only difference being you can
choose not to read those credits.. but i guess you can
choose not to listen/watch too.
as for political speeches.. given world events of the past
few years, tensions seem to be running high. everyone sounds
off sometimes.. at the dinnertable, down the pub.. on here!
its just that most of us dont have an audience of millions.

so yeah - in short, i do agree with you. i can just see why
it happens.. and i dont know what else they would/could say
when receiving awards..?
