Coming up in this very thread is a review i wanted to write
about the promo of family glue that i have recieved today!

(aw what a nice valentines pressie!!)

My review might be riddled with poor grammer and/or spelling
errors but who cares. It might go on in tangents but i want
to express in anyway I can, the diverse and beautiful
release that is family glue!

Thanks to Johnny for letting me hear this and giving me a
chance to share it with my friends!

Global Goon - Family Glue
11 tracks @ 37:14

I firstly want to go to track 2 right away for no particular
reason! I love the intro and that damn funky bass line!
Catchy vocals lace the track like the hashish in that german
teachers cake the other day. Both of these elements are
quite catchy. The vocals made me think that maybe Mr. Hawk
was humming this in the shower and made a song about it :D

(i found myself humming this after i was through listening
to it.... as was my mother who was present upon listening)

Track 3. This track i remember hearing over on WATMM in the
EKT forum. I got to listen to this develop a bit. Develop it
did, into my second favorite track on the promo. It has an
older feel to it. I could easly see this fitting in on my
favorite release of his "goon". (if that gives you any idea)

Erm, I don't think you were meant to give away the copy
number on it. It says to "keep it safe"...

Track two is wicked, so catchy.

punishment!

sorry virgins, your copy will self destruct in 10 seconds

offline virginpusher from County Clare on 2004-02-14 11:54 [#01073203]

Track 4. This is my all time favorite on the promo. It
starts off with an awesome funky ass bassline and breaks
down into something slightly similar to "metal buffalo". Or
thats at least what i would compair it to as opposed to
songs of his you might have heard. I love how this song is
structured! It all goes together so well and each little
part perfectly compliments the other.

Track 5 contains another cool bassline and a nice drum
intro. I can just imagine the possibilities of this track
being played with live bass tweaked about! Another solid
track.

Track 8: The melody of this song is just wonderful. This one
being my third favorite. I really cant think of any words to
describe how chill this is. Really fucking Ace!

The reason i kind of skipped tracks is because these i feel
are completely stand out tracks. Not to say the other ones
were bad which they are not! But i felt these needed my poor
review :)

oh really? Shit! I didnt see anything about that! Fuck me in
the goatass! :D

Overall Johnny Hawk is quite the musician. This release is
now my favorite of his, topping my now second favorite
"goon" by a large margin. He is also the most accessable
artist i have ever came across in this genre. Offering his
works online for review and comments as he was making them.
We offered advice along the way and it truly shows as this
release is quite top notch!

Ace material Hawk!!

No, they're used to uniquely identify each promo copy. I
imagine there's some sort of digital watermark as well to
see who it is in the event of a leak.

:/

reassure you. This release is fun, upbeat and fucking
compliments a great day to the tee!

"The CD-r has a unique identity code, keep this number
safe!"

I suppose it doesn't specifically, say "secret".

Glad the samples are up. Now people can decide for
themselves :)

"The CD-r has a unique identity code, keep this number
safe!"

I didnt see it with any of my contents. Not on the actual CD
or the letter. I am confused about that

No, currently limited to a 1500 CD press, J-HOK saw fit to
not include my review on his site.

I spoke to him for a short while on soulseek and I also
asked him if it was distributed in belgium.he said that
there was world wide distribution but that the cd's have
been sold out. that's why he is putting out the mp3's on
soulseek

12 UKP is entirely too much to spend on a
less-than-40-min-compact-disc

cd's are for suckers
vinyl is #1

(roughly) $20 usd for one cd is ridiculous

i used to love global goon too, cradle of history is def. on
my top ten best exp / elec. list of all time...no question
