i uploaded a new track i wrote yesterday to express the
extreme shitiness i've been feeling. it's kind of an
dark/ambient/minimal/noise.. actually pretty simple. if
anyone would like to hear something different, as in my pure
indescribable sadness in extremely simple music, give it a
listen. thanks.

ill

i guess this probably isn't worth commenting on.

I liked it. Very dark, and those 'dripping' sounds add very
well to the overall effect.

It was quite short, but you were not taking it anywhere to
that it ok. Sounds like manifestevil's evil is spreading!

zebox is being INCREDIBLY slow for me today. i'll check it
out later if possible.

i like it - kind of reminds me of the stuff i wrote back
when I was going to be doing soundtracks for short films.
short, sweet and dark - like a chocolate bar.

sorry to hear about the shittiness, send me some sounds and
i'll make a track to cheer you up.

unfortunately i'm at work so i can't listen now but if i get
a chance later on at home i'll have a listen.

didn't you promise up a complete shift in style? i think
your next release should be a glitch funk cover of chic's
"funny bone."

offline Q4Z2X on 2004-02-11 12:46 [#01068648]

yeah, i promised a shift. i think this is going to be a
final track on my "album"
then when i get the inspiration to write more and reformat
my computer and send out some cds to people/labels i am
going to experiment with new techniques to convey emotion
through the music. the technical side of making this music
and expressing myself through a computer is kind of getting
on my nerves, but i need to somehow embrace it. i need to
find some kind of new way to work through this machine
without it being so overly analysed by me in the process.
i've been considering moving away from distinct rhythm and
melody completely, and just try to express my emotions as
simply and purely as possible without gratuitous abstraction
for the simple domineering thrill of it. but instead
increase the complexity in it through instinct alone, not
thinking about how what i am doing would be interpreted by
anyone else, or how incomprehensible the final product will
be. i want to make music that people in the similar mindset
as i could relate to. i am leaning towards complete, boring
minimalism or complete intentional, overwhelming elaboration
of everything. i think the two go hand in hand in my music,
even if it doesn't seem that way when one listens to the
music. some of the most simple-sounding things can be so
remarkably complicated to make. that is what i strive for. i
never know when to say when in my music and i just want it
to seem like it has a life of its own. i want to hear it
breathing, and have the listener forget the endless measures
it took to get to the song to that point. i want the final
product of my toil to appear uncomplicated and
straightforward but interesting enough to notice new things
through each listen. i know it sounds like i am
long-windedly contradicting myself completely here, but it
makes sense in my mind.

also, plaidz, i will be moving near minneapolis sometime
this summer, maybe we can do some kind of electro-jam
someday.

one of your sound effects sounds straight off Megaman 2 (if
i'm not mistaken)- still very good song

I will listen to it when I start my other computer which
plays music. That computer SUCKS at going on the internet
and this one SUCKS at playiing music, so I have to use both

you see.

Knowing it was an emotional expression of misery makes me
like it a lot in a psychological way I guess, but if I heard
it on it's own I'd think it was pretty average. The melody
can be interpreted as an expression of an unpleasant emotion
since it's dissonant and at odds with itself sort of. I'd
like to compose the way you described above, but I'd need a
lot more control which requires a lot of knowledge about how
computers work probably. So I always end up canning that
idea and continuing being limited by modplug trackers dated
technology and only do the thing I've found that works best
with it.

Well I can relate to unpleasant emotions. I think sadistic
means desire to cause pain to others, but pain is my least
favorite known phenomenon.

offline Q4Z2X on 2004-02-11 20:16 [#01069121]

it can also mean to enjoy the suffering of others in
general.. i think..
but maybe that's schadenfreude..

Pretty cool track although I think that long high pitch note
kinda takes away from the overall mood

so typical of me.. i'm going to 6 concerts today, 9 tomorrow

yeah. i just was listening to my full "album" (which
is around 80 minutes in full now, b.t.w.) while eating some
pizza and watching hollywood squares on mute, (staring
whoopie goldberg and gilbert gotfried, b.t.w.) and when this
and another one of my more discordant-melody type tracks
came on, it made me feel physically ill, and i was feeling
fine before.

Not bad would fit a Resident Evil game quite nicely. Has
that kinda of horresque feel to it. Don't know what else to
say.

Just heard 'Q4z2x dibasic 2' interesting. Bit of an
anti-climax though as I was expecting it to go into a drum
and bass masher. Sounds very similar to an old Mu-Ziq track
from Tango & Vectif. I reckon it needs a rocking breakbeat
myself. I'd do a remix but then I'd probably just add a
predictable breakbeat ho ho ho.

it's too low and bassy to reproduce clearly on speakers.
it's pretty much intentional. i like the sound of
crapping-out speakers and digital clipping for certain
things..

promo- thanks for listening. i'll check out one of your
tracks.. but it'll take a while for me.

cool cool.
it won't happen for a while.
and i probably won't have an internet connection right away.
i've got to find a job and such first. but it'd be fun to
jam.
too bad i don't have any actual electronic-type instruments.
all i've got is a guitar, a computer and some conga drums.

we'll begin with a d'n'b cover of the theme from "barney
miller."

who needs a job when there are temp agencies?

opinion.
