Have you listened to any of the stuff they made with At the
drive in? They were good too.

Yeah there debut album is fuckin great. I have seen them
live twice.
Once supporting the chilli peppers at SECC in glasgow which
was excellent, and the other time the played the Barrowlands
Glasgow which was shit, they played an 1 1/2 hour set, which
consisted of just 5 songs from there album, they didnt speak
to the crowd, and each song lasted about 20 mins with long
boring jams, far too self indulgent.

But i still listen to the album every day

FUCK!!!!! at the drive in..... im drooling..... i watched
footage of them once, if u think mars volta are intense (i
saw am live) check out at the drive in. they used to do
backflips off amps on stage, and once he tried to fucking
bounce his guitar. (something they dont do)..... when i saw
em at the big day out in sydney the crowd was one of the
most violent ive seen. but it wasnt like people were worried
or anything, its just the music.

Ok "at the drive in" have a hardcore/punk background... it's
expectable to draw that kind of crowd.

The Mars Volta are great on CD.

But live they're just too intense and strenuous.
Omar didn't stop playing his guitar for a second during the
2hrs+ they played.

Man use the fucking search engine

While I'm here I may as well add I saw the tail end of their
new video and it looked pretty impressive. But as for the
band, not keen on em.

The white stripes are nothing like atdi/mars volta though.

I've seen the mars volta a few times, really good stuff.
Better than at the drive in I think, but they are also
quality.

Cedric and Omar have a combined height of 8ft 7inches.
Smallest men in rock. ever.

yes, they're not that alike, but i don't really differ rock
music...sure, there's difference in their lyrics, mars volta
music is more complex...but the energy they both put out is
the same. i don't really know how to explain this :-)

At the drive in was no doubt a energetic kick ass band. With
releases like in/casino/out and that one i cant remember the
name of just rocked so hard.

I downloaded the Mars Volta CD and i dunno.... maybe it just
wasnt a good day for me but i got quite bored as it felt
repetitive.

yes, appearantly. i was only listening to mars volta
regulary until two monts ago - i checked white stripes for
the 1st time then and bought all their albums since then +
some 10 other rock albums (for now heh)...im also waiting
for some new ones to be delivered, so yes, im starting to
appreciate rock music again :)
last time i was into rock as much as i am now was when
nirvana was still around...
