Colverfield: 4/5

Better than i thought it would be, characters weren't as
shallow/annoying as has been made out and they kept
information about the monster to the bare minimum which was
good and left a lot of it open to interpretation, some more
clues would have been welcome, or maybe i missed them on
first viewing. Either way, it was an enjoyable time at the
cinema, and its the first time in ages i can say that!

The Stalker - 4.5/5

It's one of the better movies I've seen in a long time, even
better than Solaris I dare say. It's all mood and mind
games, one huge climax going nowhere. Now I have to knock
"TWBB" down to a solid 4.0, to the very edge of classicdom.

Beat Takeshi is amazing. Have you seen Sonatine? Seriously,
give up everything and watch this film immediately. It's a
killer film.

I worked the weekend, so had the day off today, and watched
John Ford's The Searchers this afternoon. I don't know too
many Westerns, but this is a really good film - and John
Wayne is brilliant. And there was me for all those years
thinking John Wayne films sucked arse.

The Searchers 4/5
The Last of the Mohicans 1.5/5
The Wonderboys 3.5/5
Lawrence of Arabia 4/5

I'm watching My Beautiful Laundrette tonight. Anyone seen
that? Hopefully not as bad as the awful Last of the
Mohicans.

agreed. Sonatine is probably my favourite takeshi kitano
film, although Hana Bi and Violent Cop are also fantastic.
In fact, I've seen all of his directorial work and it's all
pretty damn impressive. Well, the last couple of films are a
bit harder to digest, but I'm willing to give them thumbs up
all the same.

I watched bits of Persepolis, but after reading the comic on
which it is based, I feel like the movie doesn't add much to
an already fantastic concept. I say read the comic.

Persepolis movie 8/10, comic 9½/10
