overall though, i think that 2004 is looking pretty weak
compared to the last few years of movies. i mean, here we
are, it's february and the top box office movie is "you got
served"

i mean, come on people.

Woodenhead

We are going to the premiere complete with a live
sideshow/circus act on Friday 13th Feb at 11 pm. Aucklanders
strongly recommended to attend as there is live music from
the soundtrack which is in the manner of David Lynch.

Its been compared to the works of Fellini, as well as
Deadman (johnny depp) and is locally made in New Zealand by
one of our neighbors in our building.

I only really know of Wong Kar Wai's 2046 which has been in
production since 1999. Should be finnished this year
though.

I heard Takeshi (Audition) Miike has been working on a
horror film, though that was a while ago and i'm not too
sure now.

oh and the new film from Zhang Yimou 'SHI MIAN MAI FU' has
recently finnished filming, which stars Zhang Ziyi.

So they were all shot in Finland? ;p
But seriously, what's 2046 about?
and a japanese horrorflick always sounds interesting, should
be a right gorefest considering Takeshi is directing it or?
I still have to see Hero, I don't have a clue about Zhang
Yimou's work yet.
Thanks for the tips though.

"But seriously, what's 2046 about?"

Your guess is as good as mine, Wong Kar Wai has a tendancy
to change the plot half way through filming and i've heard
he doesn't give the actors a full script. All I know is that
its kind of a futuristic sequel to "In the Mood for Love"
(his last film).

I've heard "Raies the Red Lantern" is meant to be Yimou's
best work though I haven't seen it yet as it isn't released
on DVD here yet. The Road home is probably the best film
i've seen by him, Hero was a little dissapointing for me.

Yeah Takashi Miike made a horror film similar to Ringu or
Final Destination: "Chakushin ari". It is supposed to
include some of his trademark weirdness. I guess after gozu
all he can do is tune it down. Oh he also made Zeburaman a
low budget (as always) superhero movie parody with Sho
Aikawa from the Dead or Alive trilogy.
