Long story short.. someone played my demo to DJ Spooky yesterday (without my knowledge), he totally liked it and I had to burn 3 cds to give him so he can take up to his label folks today. He even called the guy I had to give them to last night to make sure I brought them.. Pretty cool. |

well i just got a call from a fella that works with spooky at synchronic records. they dig my stuff.. didn't sound like they had anything for me really.. i'll be the forst to admit that my sound isn't necessarily what they are catering to. anyhow, he still liked it and he said he wants to help me out. he asked me if it would be ok if he sent some copies of my demos to some other labels that he's associated with.. namely, he thought he could get me hooked up with Mush Records (boom bip, clouddead, etc..) I told him yeah, that's fine send it on. he gave me his email and he told me he wants me to send him 10 more cds with press kits so he con send to some others who may be interested.. he said he would talk me up. pretty cool. ill keep you guys posted on what, if anything, happens.. |

In a press kit, you want to include a one or two page (or so) writeup about your music, what you think it means, the demographic you hope to reach with your music, pictures of yourself and/or your band, how you feel you should be marketed. Those are the kind of things they are looking for. Its kind of like a resume. When I was doing reviews for a zine, they would get about 60 or so albums a month, all with press kits, and the press kit sometimes determined whether the album would get listened to or not. |

You are also expected to include any dvd's of your band playing, if you have a demo with only a few other tracks include other stuff, plastic toys to fit in the car, etc ect all. Its pretty much any promotional thing you may have about your music. |
