With all these music making programs out there, I've just
got the attitude to stick with what I'm used to.

All this time put into trying to learn one program after
another I will NEVER get any music done!

Don't get me wrong, but max/msp is a bit too boring for me,
I'd rather build my own instruments in the real world in
electronics, that way, I could add as many knobs and buttons
as I wanted, when and where I wanted, then just add a little
midi interface round the back.

Yeah, ok max/msp is cheaper (my shopping list for maplins is
nearing 200quid on components), but EVERY feature can be
tailored for me :p

um

but you CAN add as many knobs and buttons as you want?
theyll just be virtual.

Wouldnt just be easier and cheaper to use MAX, and then just
have like a few MIDI controllers, of knobd and sliders, to
assign?

Then that way, you can make multiple instruments/whathaveyou
and use the knobs over for all the different things you
make.

Well, I could make a custom midi controller and use
that......but..........
Using max/msp gives you knowledge of, well max/msp, whereas
doing it in hardware gives you a knowledge of electronics,
interface programming, metalwork, soldering and spending!
Also, if I design it myself, I don't need to learn how to
use it, granted it won't be half as powerful as max/msp, but
it isn't meant to be. I could easily make 2 or 3 dozen
modules over the years and make a controller for it all
instead of using max/msp, but I doubt that is for everyone.
I think the real difference is that max/msp cannot be as
unique as something I make. And at the end of the day, home
made gear rules!

but does anyone know where to get good patches that other
people have made. I don't want to make my own I don't have
the time nor the patience for that. but I just some
interesting sequencing and or grandular capabilities.

preorder, and Ill be getting mine from the first shipment.
So Ill have it within 2-5 days of the 10th :-D

Oh, and word on the net is that clavia is reconsidering the
Mac editor!

That would be HOT
