i've got this strange need, i see it as a game when i'm
going to a gig, to touch the people i'm seeing. for instance
i touched: all crew from Nightmares On Wax, the girl from
broadcast, (didn't want to touch the boys), Jamie lidell, T.
raumschiere, doormouse and more... does this make me a
groupie?or just an idiot who's trying to have some fun going
out?

sounds like a mild celebrity fetish. you have difficulty
accepting your self worth. you seek validation by contact
with celebrities so that in your own mind (and perhaps
others) you seem special or less ordinary. very common, but
it's worth some introspection on your part.

you're missing the fun/game/sport part i guess; it's not so
easy touching them, it's not like you walk on stage touch
them and walk back to the crowd, most of the times you've to
try going backstage or get passed a lot off people who are
in the way, etc

i certainly can appreciate that you enjoy making a game of
the process, and that the game is fun, challenging,
exciting, etc. however, i'm concerned with your motivations
in particular. i think you are transferring your motivation
to the pleasure of the game in order to deny your difficulty
accepting yourself as worthy and valid as a person, and
rationalizing your decision to engage in that behavior.

in addition, i note that you've gone out of your way to seek
validation for your behavior on the message board. you seem
to want people to tell you it's ok to do what you're doing.
i'm perfectly willing to tell you it's ok, but i think that
you should take the time to consider these issues and
reflect on your own motivation for not only the behavior,
but also for seeking acceptance for the behavior here.

since you asked...

well thank you for your very psychological analysis of my
crazy brains who are in the first place the main reason of
my human behavior, then again i think you are transferring
your motivation (to write me this very long reply wich
should have only given me the answer to my question "am i
kindda of a groupie or not,") into my shoes, what would
FREUD say about that?
To the pleasure of the game, in order to deny your
difficulty; I won't go deeper into that difficulty cause the
main answer for that is accepting yourself as worthy and
valid as a person, and
after rationalizing i can now give you one advice: don't try
being the therapist when you're not, cause it can lead you
into depts that you've never heard off before. But as you've
asked me to reflect my behaviour i can now say: i was bored
at work; a treath about RDJ being attractive to women led me
to the question; what's the difference between the behaviour
of a groupie and my own behaviour. There are in my opinion
big differences, f.i.: I don't scream, don't throw my
panty's, etc. I only want to touch them as in a game;
touching them is like getting the bonuspoints for the
night.....so: game on

crazone, i replied *since you asked*. it seems a little
presumptuous to speak of me being lead into depths i've
never heard of; you don't know me at all. my comments were
not particularly freudian, and if the posts were too long
for you you were not compelled to read them. do what you
will with my comments, but don't complain about having
gotten what you asked for. i answered your question
"groupie vs idiot" clearly, though not explicitly. and yet
you yourself called your behavior a "strange need."

horsefactory, if you can articulate a coherent description
of my "idiocy" without stringing together a series of
pointless insults, i'd like to hear it. i am who i am, and
i refuse to pretend otherwise to satisfy an angry, immature
teenager such as yourself.

plaidzebra you said "i think you are transferring your
motivation
to the pleasure of the game in order to deny your difficulty

accepting yourself as worthy and valid as a person, and
rationalizing your decision to engage in that behavior."

I took that as an insult; I love myself : i don't have
diffuculties finding myself wothy and valid a person,
therapists who talk like that are not doing the wright
thing,me as a person is exploring this world what also
includes discovering new bounderies, wich is very healthy,
trying to meet/speek/ talk to the artists i'm seeing at a
gig is one of the exploring tasks of me as a person, meeting
new people, esspecialy creative great artists, gives me the
insight of how they think/feel/live/etc, i learn from that
experiences, not as person who feels himself not worthy or
valid but as a person who's getting the best out of his
life...

when you shake one of their hands you should keep your thumb
pressed closely up to your palm/index finger.
it's hilarious.. they don't know where to put their
hand/thumb and it feels extremely awkward.

try it, you may like it.!

offline plaidzebra from so long, xlt on 2004-01-27 22:37 [#01051544]

crazone, you were the one who expressed concern about your
behavior. you called it a "strange need," which suggests a
compulsion that you don't entirely understand. also, you
seemed to be seeking validation from people, soliciting a
response like "everyone wants to meet/touch celebrities,
it's ok." in my opinion, this suggests that there is some
conflict in your mind about this.

i'm sincerely sorry if you felt insulted, i just happened to
read your query, and responded in a way that i hoped was
objective and would potentially be helpful or at the very
least food for thought. again, anyone can accept or reject
anyone's opinion; however casually, you asked for my
anyone's opinion and i gave mine, not out of any desire to
"play therapist" but to respond genuinely and forthrightly.

i did not intend to put you on the defensive. for however i
may have misread you, i ask your forgiveness. i
deliberately avoided communicating any judgement of
rightness or wrongness in my response, because i honestly
don't believe that you are right or wrong. you make your
own happiness.
