genius is a highly subjective term. One guys genius is
another guys bag of shite.

There's no such thing as "genius".

I used to take piano lessons as far back as I can remember -
Both my parents teach music...

I still didn't find it easy to come up with melodies I liked
- I always used to be playing the same kinds of things in
the same keys and everything...

Learning a little Jazz theory, from a book, DEFINETLY helped
a lot though - After a while you don't even need to be aware
of keys/chords anymore - It's like you go full circle and
all the theory and rules disappear again...

I think it's quite Zen, because the more you 'know' the less
you have to think...

I'd definetly call RJ a genius - It's one thing to be able
to write music like his, but it's another to be the one who
invents it in the first place... And I'd say he's written
some of the best melodies in any genre of music I can think
of...

it seems rude of you, mc 303 beatz, to call jivverdicker a
"bag of shite." despite his bouts of crankiness, he's often
generous and quite insightful.

'Invents it'? Invents what? all RDJ's styles have been done
by lots of people a long time ago... He's definately
talented but he hasn't 'invented' anything.

I am creating this post to express my agreement with what
JivverDicker said.
