His point about changing your life to create those situations that put you in emotional extremes (to make better art) is a good one. I've often wondered about that and whether it's part of the reason artists steretypically have personalities that are susceptible to mood swings. Perhaps even if they're not doing it intentionally, the fact that they live life at both ends of the emotional spectrum helps their work. |
