I've got a new track I've just finished, bit of an oddity, it really doesn't seem to fit into any sort of normal classification.
Cave Rave
In addition to comments on it, I'd appreciate people to suggest what genre I ought to describe this as. Cheers.

i guess "cave rave" is a good title, it sounds like something that cave dwelling critters might dance too.
hmm i like the little break down at 2'30 i like that little melody, i wish it had more presence in the track.
i'd say it almost has an industrial sound but deff. not traditional industrial. it actually reminds me of that astrobotnia track with the "i want to kill everyone" sample in it. (which is not industrial i know)
yep. i have a new "strange track" as well in the thread titled "a song for grandma."
heh.. just sayin.

Damn, that little breakdown is teasingly familiar, are you quoting another track, or is it possibly one of those weirdass absynth patches?
(I'm hearing Absynth all over the place since I started playing with it)

well it is as it says, cave rave. tribal cavern sounds bellowing around the cracks and corners of the dark dimly lit walls. Modern electro beats set in completely oxymoroning the atmosphere of the primordial ambience and it blends.
It blends into wicked oddness. keep it up, ur pal Gwely

Yes, it's an edit on an existing absynth patch. There are two other instances of absynth in the track, but the others are less recognisable.
Ta Gwely :)

For one reason or another wirefm tends to be more or less tricky for some users. The webmaster needs to quickly get his shit together and fix it :)
Ceri i believe you made a wonderful track. I dont know about the long term effects of this track but I cant really say it was at all what i was expecting.... which is a good thing.
I've found that what music makers do today becomes repetitive and boring. I think this is an interesting step in a different direction. :)

it's an instrumental version of a dark, electro-influenced synth pop tune, i imagine a dave gahan sort of vocal.
not my cup of tea.

back when i was a total n00b to the board, bumping didnt even cross my mind. what i did was make constant threads to promote my music, which in turn pissed allot of you off. i dont even like that music i was promoting anymore, seeing as some of you informed me that there isnt really a market for ambience. im currently working on some hardcore 1992ish style techno.

Just as a tip, it's considered good netiquette (not here, just generally) to not bump your own stuff constantly and as consecutive posts; you should leave it a bit and ideally have at least one reply between your bumps. If you bump something four times and no one responds after each bump, they probably don't want to look at it/comment :)
Also, if you put more than a couple of tracks up a day, keep it to one thread... a lot of people ripped into promo for making several seperate threads for his tracks recently. If they'd all been in the
same thread, or a week or so apart, no one would of had a problem.
Naturally, you can ignore this advice- it's not a "rule". Just you'll probably find you get more replies if you stick to them... if you wind people up, they won't listen to your stuff out of spite :)
I'm doing a couple of early 90s type rave tracks as well as illbient at the moment. I like Techno, so let me know when they're done.

I'm not a major fan unfortunately. The sounds are muggy but sort of lack atmosphere, the beat lacks drive and as a result I lost interest in it pretty quickly. It could have been quite a sinister track but it would really need to be mastered better.
I think the bit around 3:40 would have sounded better with a harsher stabbing bass instead of the mushy snare.
Obviously a lot is down to personal taste. :P

When it comes at the detriment of mood, melody and sound quality then yes I do :P
The bad thing with overly using reverb is that it has the effect of blunting everything in the track, making it sound really dull and lifeless.
