Has anyone seen this? As good as the hype?
I was watching Last Samurai last week and there were some idiots behind me who sarcastically said" that looks good" when the trailer for Big Fish finnished. They also kept on sighing everytime there was a break in the action in Last Samurai. I swear there are some idiots who go to the cinema.
I'm thinking of getting the soundtrack for Big Fish, i love Danny Elfman's music but haven't got any of his music yet. You think this one is worth getting?

I would suggest Edward Scissorhands OST. I haven't seen Big Fish yet so I really can't reccomend the OST.

our local independant cinema closed down recently, and the local paper sarcastically wrote 'will be remembered by all 2 customers'.
Anyone would think the mainstream cinemas show all the best films. Its like music, if you just take what is fed to you, you miss out on all the good stuff.

Fuck them, those idiots wouldn't know a good director if Tim Burton jumped out of the screen and slapped them across the face.
Its people like that, that bring this planet down.

the movie was great.
there is another Big Fish thread around here someplace with many positive comments..
as for the soundtrack, i wasn't really paying attention to it enough to form an opinion other than i don't remember it being very traditionally danny elfman-ish.

Edward Scissorhands, love that film. Probably my favourite Tim Burton film so far. The bbc reviewed Big Fish and said it was the best film of his career...

You wanna know something sad by the way? I had a local CD store order me the Edward Scissorhands OST a few years ago, and the damn thing turned out to be defective, it skipped big time between tracks 12-14, and the fucking bastards wouldn't order me a new one, they were all sceptical as though I was trying to pull something.
Needless to say, I haven't shopped there ever again.

Oh yeah, I did I mention I got stuck with the defective copy?
On a different note, wasn't a track from the Edward Scissorhands OST played during the Trailor of Batman Returns? I think it was "The Tide Turns".

it's really nothing like his other movies. there is some element of the bizarre cinematography but it's not as obvious.
this is his least stylistic film yet. it's more about storytelling. classic story telling like Twain, and Carrol.
It's his most "touching" movie so far as well, but it is done in a very tasteful way, not like some disney movie or some fucking Zemekis movie.

Wow, must have been a comfortable theater. The theaters around here have the most uncomfortable seats ever, not to mention they are so damn close together you bump elbows with whoever sits next to you. They need to put some damn recliners in theaters especially for the high ass prices.

big fish is not dark, weird or fucked up at all. it's actually very sweet, but with a huge imagination.
it manages to build a powerful emotional climax with a happy ending (admittedly with a burtonesque twist) that feels neither forced or clichéd. it's a story of real people, an astonishing fantasy, and a fascinating parable about reality and identity all at once.
i was concerned that my expectations were too high, and yet my expectations were exceeded. not everyone will like it, but some of you are going to be blown away...

i agree. *minor spoiler*
i like how it kind of ties up all the loose ends and justifies the rambling, tangent-wandering tendency of the plot toward the end.
the spider bit was pretty dark/creepy. but yo i hate fukin' spiders.
