Need help with XP running like ass

I've just recently upgraded to win XP. i dled seome drivers
that fucked my win2k installation and caused my system to
hang (stop screen while win2k loaded drivers). I felt that
if the developers are switching over to XP, i need to keep
with the times.

So i've upgraded. Now, when i install my motherboard, and
vcard drivers, my video gets majorly fucked: so i usually
just install just my vid card drivers (asus magic v9520).

I've had this "fucked video" problem a few times when trying
to install win xp. and both times performed a system restore
(win xp function from safe mode).

After doing so the first time, my system was slow as shit! i
asked my friend; who told me that it was because i didnt'
format my OS partition which contained win2k before
installing xp. so i formated it, then installed Xp on a
clean partition. eventually installed the 2 packages of
drivers (hopeing that it was somehting with win2k that
caused the fuck-up), and had to restore yet again! because,
yes, it caused a fuckup.

Does a winXP system restore cause the system to run like
ass? is there a patch that i should dl? I have service
pack1, and all of the hotfixes...and would LIKE to hope that
i jsut need to install just my vid drivers, however, i need
to have the full functionality of my motherboard. (wich i
can't say the exact model, but i knwo it's a gigabyte, and
that it's NOT incompatible w/ the vid card).

any sugestions as to what's up?

open your case, the motherboard model is usually written on
it....then google it for people with similar problems.

and i don't understand your exact problem, is it your video
card or the mobo that has a problem, try dissecting and
testing, narrowing the problem down to software/hardware
component, and then search....best advice i can give ya.
