vsnares hype down

I noticed that the hype surrounding vsnares is going down
on this mb especially. Less frequent threads, the wheelchair
album is barely not discussed. did someone choose this one
among his favorites for 2003 ?

Well I was just listening to the mu-samples of the incoming
LP and huge_chrome_cylinder_box in particular. You can get
them on the planet-mu website. It's very reminiscent of
songs about my cats but yet more complexe and more
produced... vsnares is making coherent and different
style-wise tracks - the only other IDM artist I know capable
of this is AFX.

What do you think about:
1 - vsnares is over-releasing and the hype just goes down.

2 - vsnares is refining his producing techniques and will
get increasingly better over time.

np: ddamage vs TTC - trop singe

2003 - it was a harsh music year.

2004 - it is a laid back music year.

Every Snares fan has been going ga-ga over the samples...
and the Wheelchair album still gets mentioned plenty.
Personally I say 2.

Well, that was two different questions.
2 is not an appropriate answer.

Well I'm not only talking about xltronic but the 'scene' you
know, webzines, mailing-lists, MTV...

Oh yeah, heh. Well too many releases can obviously dilute
not only your artistic imprint but also your fanbase - as
can the opposite ie not releasing an album for five, six
years.

I do think Snares is getting better as he goes along (I
don't listen to samples so I haven't heard anything from the
new one) - whether he continually ascends and becomes more
successful all depends on just how much talent he has... I
don't think we've heard the best of him yet.

snares is oneof those artists i've heard snippets of and i
thought he was great PLUS i saw him live at ATP and he blew
me away YET i have no CD's or LPS or mp3.s of his
because.... i just always end up getting something else AND
he's gottons of stuff out there too.... so much to choose
from that i just grab something else

i'm also kind of savouring the prospect of getting into his
albums - i may even wait till i'm 60 or soemthing

weird.

I'm glad that he is releaseing as much stuff as he is,....
it gives us a good indication of what he's up to, and we
know we're not missing out on anything, because he's
releasing it all

better released than unreleased I say

Musicians can't win....

It's either too many albums or not enough albums.

Sticking to the same fomula or changing too much.

yes but do you think he is getting better ? I mean evolving
but good or evolving in a repetitive, boring, formulaic way
so we (the 'scene') get bored of his style. I mean I'm
listening to martys tardis and whereas it's got this vsnares
touch, drill programming qulity. I think it's still fresh...

if you don't release stuff all the time to keep up the fan
base, you start to lose fans to other artists like what RDJ
is doing. everyone wants a new album. you'll never have that
sort of shit with vs. but when you continue to release as
such a massive rate, some albums (choc wheel in particular)
don't quite measure up to the rest of your work.

this new album however sounds pretty good (beznicity in
particular) and should prove to be a beauty of a release.

direct link: vsnares new album named "Beauty" (shit name if you
ask me) but awesome tracks, i prefer this over his cut-up
breakbeat stuff (which i also greatly enjoy btw)

can't wait
can't wait

You're an idiot.

No. The more the messier.

2 - vsnares is refining his producing techniques and will

get increasingly better over time.

I'm sure that's true.

Well, you could say I'm ignorant, that's enough.

Just tell me what other artists you see as being very
changing style-wise and versatile.

Am I the only Snares fan who thinks the new samples sound
boring and a bit weak? I like to have my brain kicked in by
Snares.

I wouldn't say his 'hype' as you call it is going down...its
just that you either like him or not, and if you post a
snares thread people get pissy. I like the fact he over
releases, i think its cool he can do so much material in
such a small fraction of time, unlike RDJ or Squarepusher.

is vsnares.com down?
