i try and look really cool
then i have to fart and spend hours out socializing trying
to hold them in.
sometimes i have to let them out.
they suspect me, but i act so cool that they think its the
ugly guy next to me.

Heres to good looks!

i'm a really shy fellow, but i've been doing my damndest to
improve and talk to people more these days... i find alcohol
does really lower my inhibitions... but it's still tough,
just because i don't have very much in common with a lot of
people i meet... once i can assume a don't-give-a-fuck
attitude, things usually go alright

I drink liquid personality (Irish car bombs or chilled vodka
or something) and usually sit back and listen to what's
happening.

I talk to people if I have a good crowd and we're in a
socializing kind of mood.

I like being above the crowd or not on the radar mostly...
trying to change that, be more personable, but who knows

trying to make sense of 1000 crossed conversations usually
tends to make shite of my head... so I either STFU or talk
to people I already know. I'm a little lacking in social
skills :(

in one, I leave.

keep blabbing on about it until i am the only one left in
the room.....

it pretty much goes the same way in real life :D

I act silent and mysterious in order to attract some of the
same nature, until I realize that no one is like me and
finally get bored and leave, while saying: you want
a fucking lolly?

offline BlatantEcho from All over (United States) on 2004-01-14 23:09 [#01034026]

I sit in the corner and try to act natural. I fidget if
people around me are drinking, so I typically need to hold
something.

Even in a room full of people I know, sometimes I'm just
thinking, fuckers, you KNOW me, why do you want to force a
conversation with me just because everyone else is?

(hevquip, you're awesome! bricks rule!! =D)

personally, i... depends on how much people i know, of
course, also if there is alcohol for me to get drunk...
sometimes i feel uncomfortable and i want to scream..
when i'm not feeling integrated in the group, and i'm
feeling weird and very lonely... which is often, in fact.
i'm not suffering from loneliness when i'm fully alone, but
i am when i'm with friends chatting with other friends and
other people but not giving a fuck about me. but well, i'm
rarely in social situations, i'm never invited to parties,
and i'm feeling quite good at my university. =)

Try to find some sort of common ground with whoever I'm
talking to. There's no point boring them talking about
electronic music and there's no point in feigning an
interest in something they feel really passionate about if
you're just going to end up listening, nodding and going
"mhuh" every minute or so. My general approach is to steer
the conversation off all over the shop till either they
mention something you have an interest in or you can tell
from their reaction that something they've said interests
you.

In group situations, I don't make a point of being an
outsider, but I won't try to integrate either. To me,
large groups are the things lynch mobs and riots are made
of. The bigger the group, the more stupid (generally) and
the less important your opinion (or even reasoning) is.

At college I tend to keep to myself, I've got enough mates
already and to be honest, find most of the students my age
(although this has improved a lot since first year, where I
felt I was with kids about 5 yeas younger than me) quite
immature and tend to get on better with the mature students.
It's neccessity that I talk to everyone though, as I'm the
student representative (who goes to staff meetings etc. to
put forwards the student's point of view). On the one side
this means you have to make the effort to ask even the
idiots you don't care about in the slightest how they're
doing, what are their concerns etc. are, but on the plus
side, you get to spot who the sound ones are for groupwork
or even just to talk to.

said interests them.
