I'm using Winddows XP

Nothing that's not needed has been installed and in all
cases they were re-installs.

Done full virus checks, spyware scans using ad-aware and
spybot.

Is there anything particular you happen to be doing when it
freezes? Have you defragged the hard drive?

maybe its overheating? I don't think windows xp freezes
very often on its own, I can't even remember mine freezing
ever

are you using icq?

my computer used to freeze up all the time. I use XP too.

after a while I thought, "hey, might it be that notorious
over-heavy program called icq?"

and it was. never froze after I deinstalled it.

now I use Miranda.

There's no set programs that I have open. It's completely
random.
I've tried defragging already :s

sometimes Ad-aware and those programs might not be able to
remove all spy-ware files... I had a big hassel there over
Christmas cleaning up my computer which was full of that
shit... used to be super slow and would freeze lots... but I
fixed it up and it works fine now...

i haven't reinstalled my windows98 in like 2 years. when i
turn it on there's like 20 error popups which i have to
close down before i can start doing anything.
i have it turned on 24/7 and it freezes about 2,3 times per
day.
i have about 80 gigs of data on harddrive so i first need to
burn all that on cd's and then i'll reformat it. can't wait
for this actually. i've been preparing for this for about a
year already...so it should be any time now :)

"CAn anyone suggest possible causes please?"

Maybe it's because you're gay and aren't being honest with
yourself.

Be true to yourself, that's all a computer asks.
