norton liveupdate problem

im getting this error when i try to update

the only part it won't update is "norton internet security
v6.0.4"

after it downloads the update before it finishes the update
i get "liveupdate must update sysmantec common client.
please install this update first..."

anyone else having similar difficulties?

i think its something to do with liveupdate trying to update
the common client and it already being installed. if this is
the case i need to know the latest version of the common
client so i can edit the Product.Catalog.LiveUpdate file
manually so it matches the correct version.

any help appreciated. cheers.

given their history, they probably won't even acknowledge
any problem

I've always found the symantec support team to be very kind
and helpful. They've always helped me resolve my issues.

i know it's no help really, but i'd recommend mcafee vscan,
i had a lot of trouble with norton myself, i'm glad i got
rid of it
(norton utilities works fine for me btw but vscan sucked
imo)

The only shitty symantec product I've had is Norton
Utilities; That program can seriously fuck up your computer
beyond comprehension.

to reinstall. already done that, exactly like I told you in
the mail I sent you!

ah.
only tried the mcafee firewall, which is based on the old
neowatch firewall (superb firewall btw), but the mcafee one
sucked big time.

I have one computer at work that doesn't run Norton
Liveupdate properly so I have to download the updates
manually. The same with Virex on my macs, the liveupdate
doesn't work so I d/l the patches from versiontracker.com

haha
for you i'll change my mind:

Morton says Norton !

you just need to get a decent computer you gomper, mcafee
won't run on win3.1 :P and get yourself a soundcard and make
sure it doesn't get nicked this time!
