deus ex games are storyline driven first person shooters, but played more with an rpg style, in the sense that you upgrade your charachter to suit your style of gameplay. you can make your char specialize in stealth or running in and gunning down rooms full of guys, or maybe being able to cloak himself and sneak through unseen. the game can be played in millions of ways, and the storyline progresses depending on each choice you make in the game. i'm playing through deus ex 2 again, i'm pretty sure this is the 4th or 5th time, and i'm still playing the game in different ways than i did the other times.

I think they're really fucking it up with hl2. I think that stolen source code might have been a stunt, because they needed an excuse to delay the game. Its gonna be way late. Personally I hope it turns into a Duke Nukem Forever just because I think they got cocky or something.

Obviously it's going to be way late, but I've been through that many times with games, I can deal. It's probably a stunt, but who cares. I remember Mario 64 being pushed back repeatedly but it was more than worth it and I forget all the waiting pain now, I'll look back in a couple of years and laugh at this ''stunt''. I know it's going to deliver and it's going to feel oh so sweet and negate all the waiting pain. The beta is out and I know some people who leaked pee playing it.

Well I can imagine that with this big complex game it will be too hard for many if any modifications from fans to come about, like new levels. Therefore, the levels that come with it are what you get. But I suspect they'll walk players through the gradually increasing difficulty stages once again, rather than give it to them full on from the start. I havn't played a detailed 3d shooter (with few 3d enemies instead of numerous enemy sprites) that really makes me want to replay levels as much as ones in the doom2 scene. I'll play this game 10 friggin years from now when computers cost 10 cents each to see how linear it is or isn't. I can't even play the friggin trailor on my current computer and internet setup.

Whoa I got to see me this. It's like Hellraiser in space, and more. They should give you one of those Vincent Price-style promises:
"Guaranteed to give you nightmares or your money back!"
And to think many people who played the first two DOOMS tossed and turned over those primitive, by today's standards, graphics. Ahhh suspension of disbelief for the sake of gameplay.

did they actually make up a kind of okay story for this one? because I remember the previous parts to be fun but devoid of any real storyline.
which is exactly why Doom 3 doesn't excite me very much, but I can't wait for Half Life 2!

I don't want ANY storyline in this one. No characters. Drop me in that fucking complex and let me go from there, just like the old Dooms. They felt genuine. I want to survive, and worry about nothing else BUT that, no hokey plot. God help me if there's a token female character, a secret weapon, or any kind of betrayals.
The first review is in, and it got a 94 from somewhere... PC Gamer, I think? I haven't read it, but apparently the biggest flaw is moronic attempts at humor. But it's nitpicking, this game will deliver.

That monster is pushing it. Supposedly there's the ''ghostly visage'' of the dead man, translucent against the bones. It's just gay, though.
But the fat zombie and that huge no-eyed demon are wicked. I hope they've got some nice organsandgutsflyingeverywhere physics for when I blow open their bellies.
