i've got some sort of problem with my laptop running win98.
i can no longer use the internet. everytime i click on the
internet explorer icon i get a pop up that says something
like "this program has performed an illegal operation and
will be shit down." when i close that i get another one that
says there was an internal error and one of the windows i
was using will be closed, please restart computer, etc. i
get the same thing when i try to click on some other icons
on my desktop. other than that everything works fine. is it
possible that i have a virus? i don't know enough about
computers to pinpoint the problem, but i'm starting to get
really desperate.

please help me guys!!!!!!! you're my last hope!!!

Brilliant! A crash whenever Internet explorer is started and
you help by sending him a url! I love it!

If there's some way to do a "repair install" from the
original cd you might try that. Can't remember with win98. I
doubt it's a virus

Agreed - more likely the registry is toasted. Not a whole
hell of a lot you can do about that.

i'm now back on track, but it came at the price of
formatting my hard drive. after an hour of yelling and
throwing shit all over my room, i'm now relaxed and ready to
reacquire my goods. thanks for the help anyway.
