Are there any DVDs below $300 that has good sound (not worse sound than a CDplayer for the same price, e.g. when playing CDs in them)?
I just wanna know. There seem to be a lot of bashing on thoose cheaper DVDs, and I don't have enough money to buy an expensive one.
I just wanna know about sound here, but if you want to recommend a certain model please do.
What are your experiences?

i don't think they would 'sound' any worse than another cd deck. i think you want to make sure you have a good stereo and speakers though.

just my advice though, as I always say, don't buy sony disc products. 1. we had a boombox, it broke. 2. our 6 disc changer broke. 3. i had a discman, it was crap. 4. our dvd player has some issues sometimes. 5. the sony burner in my old computer used to like to refuse to play discs.

ok. you might be right. It's that I've heard, from some sources that if I want something that makes my CDs sound good I should rather go for a CDplayer than a DVDplayer (for the same price).
Now I am in need of a DVDplayer so I was just thinking if anyone had any recommendations or know any model which has "good sound".
or if you're right, map~, then I can just grab about any model there is, that supports the stuff I need and has got good reviews, etc.

ok here is the thing you need to do so you can appreciate DVD audio
first the DVD audio discs are not that many out there
you need to find a dvd player with digital audio out put and hook it up with your audio reciever at the digital input
find a 5.1 or 6.1 surround sound
you can get a good dvd player with audio reciever and it is a 5.1 surround in one
check out the www.bestbuy.com

if you use your dvd player to play regular audio cds it will not make the sound anybetter
it depends on the audio system and the cd itself
checkout if the release is available on SACD or DVD audio before buying
the DVD audio is the best as the music is recorded in 5.1 i heard vespertine on dvd audio...there are so many things that are not as clear on the audio cd as they are on the dvd
