this thing is still one of the best comps ive ever
heard!!!!!

been listening to it for a few days lately, and its STILL as
good as it was in '97!

its comprised of all unreleased tracks by:
puppy, download, doubting thomas, kone (philth), platEAU,
aduck (goettel), tear garden, dead voices on air, etc...

it feel more like a REALLY good album to me than a
compilation.

definitely check this thing out, if yr a fan of any of this
stuff, its all eXCELLENT!!!!

i would eat the lobster but i'm not into seafood much, maybe
i'd just put him in the chipper and turn him into lawn food.

amazon.com, my friend.

it is EASILY one of the top 5 releases the subcon crew has
put out.

aduck aka dwayne goettell is/was one of the most underated
electronic musician. upon his death, the subsequent
Download albums made it abundantly clear how much of
Download was his baby. soon as he died and kevin key had to
most of it himself, their music went downhill fast. The
Eyes of Stanley Pain, Furnace and particularly the Aduck
track Burnout, 7-10 years later, are still more innovative
than 95% of the electronic music currently out there. i
always wished i could have heard an aphex twin / dwayne
goetell circa 1996 collaboration. could have been insane.

don't shoot smack.

the wild planet compilation, although not as good, is still
a very worthy pick-up if you haven't heard it. more aduck,
skinny puppy, download etc.

worht the price alone.

I used to listen to it all the time when it came out. But
then again I used to listen to every cd I had all the time
because I didn't have mp3s back then. Nevertheless, it's a
very good album. These days if I dig it out I mostly just
listen to the Tear Garden tracks, "Burnout", "Blowfish" and
if I'm feeling up to it, "Melt." From your posts I can tell
you're a big fan of Puppy. And I think you're just a few
short steps away from becoming a Ka-Spel junkie. Good times
lay ahead.

maybe i would listen if i had actually heard of any of that
crap.

hev: maybe you sHOULD hear some of that crap.

steve: yeah, i dont know... ka-spel's stuff is kinda 50/50
for me. i HATE the old pink dots stuff (the terrible
elevator music crap), but i ADORE "malachai" and "from here
youll watch the world go by". i also love "to be an angel
blind..." by tear garden, and recently fell for "9 lives to
wonder" by the dots.

i dont know if ill ever become a ka-spel junkie... but the
mimir stuff with hemann & o'rourke is the BOMB baby!!!!

Oh, that's a shame. I think older LPD stuff is just pure
gold.

to each his own... ive known people who were DIEHARD for the
older lpd stuff.

i guess i myself don't see the charm or soemthing.

though i will say again i think the lpd/solo members have
done some great stuff.

i liked the soundclips a lot more than i thought i would.
i'm into download and sp, but i wasn't sure about the other
bands. i think i'll like it. besides, it was only 8 bucks
used.

yeah, if you dug the clips, i think youll like it alot
then.

solo dwayne material (2 tracks), a puppy instrumental that
KILLS!!!, unreleased doubting thomas, download, plateau,
tear garden...

exclusive tracks that ALL rock hard!

flawless compilation. thanks for the heads up

you got it?!?

awesome! im SO glad you like it!!!

see what i mean about how it feels and flows like a whole
album?

an excellent representation of the scope of key/goettel's
work.

offline r40f from qrters tea party on 2004-01-15 13:20 [#01034935]

yeah, it's a lot better than i expected. i heard some tear
garden tracks before, but i didn't like them. these were
great, i thought. the skinny puppy track was great - very
noisy. so yeah, this comp turned me on to some music i
otherwise wouldn't have sought out (aduck, philth, doubting
thomas, etc).

if you dug doubting thomas, get their "father dont cry" ep
from subcon/metropolis.

if you dug that tear garden stuff, you might like "to be an
angel blind, the crippled soul devine" album on
subcon/nettwerk. its my personal fav tg album, and has a
very similar feel to the tracks on this comp.

also, the wild planet compilation on subcon/nettwerk is
kinda like a part 2 to this comp. not quite AS good, but has
some exclusive stuff that is VERY worth getting.

i specifically remember rockin that compilation back then.

but yeah, "solutions..." and "drill" were like your big
thing right about then.

i was still rockin the "in dust we trust" invisible recs
compilation and some other atkins-y stuff.

i think we were REAL into "black light district" too, cuz
that had like JUST came out.

I remember listening to black light district a lot at apt.
c, which is when I started getting into more experimental
stuff. Meshwork was another jam in high rotation at Eric's.

dude, i think you forget.

we played "worship the glitch" and "blacklight" ALOT before
apt-c.

when we moved into the apartment, i think "time machines"
came out.

that's when we got into nurse with wound and stuff more.
