Shame I don't have enough trust to pay someone far far away big $ and not be sure whether or not I will get what I paid for.

yeah get it if you can. I got a second hand S5000 for £500 from a bloke who owns a record shop who was selling all his gear and going all laptopy, fool!
The thing had not been used for more than about 10 hours i reckon, came with ak.sys software and hardware card, and 5 unopened sample cds. nice.
oh yeah, if anyone gets this S6000, get the ak.sys for it, its the best thing ever! lets you do a usb connection to your pc and drag n drop files and do virtual front panel, etc. great fun.
If I were you, and you were planning to buy, I'd get a S5000, its 3u not 4u, and after a few more hardware bits have been bought, you will run out of room quickly! the only difference is S5000 is smaller, has a non removable screen(no big deal) and doesnt have the 3 user keys (which i dont need), and no fx and 'only' 8 analogue outs.....although you can get the fx card and extra outputs, etc easily. I think the S6000 come with a scsi hdd, but you can fit an IDE drive also which it doesn't say (?) so open the S5k, bung in an old 4gig IDE or SCSI disk and wahey.

oh if anyone does get this, or already has an Akai S5000/S6000 or Z4/8, perhaps a look at Hollow Sun would impress you.
