I kind of bought the new special edition dvd-set solely on
reputation - I had never seen it before this evening.

it's rad, man!!

no, but seriously, I'm always suprised when a reknown
classic actually is really good. and this film is. :)

first Bogart pic I've seen too.

great dialogue - really good use of exposition (the
relaying of information mostly for the audience), in a
non-clichéed way. and quite funny in places.

and god bless Ingrid Bergman.

Yeah, awesome movie.

Speaking of classics that have been overlooked...

I just saw psyco for the first time the other day! It was
pretty damn good! I liked the music too (not counting the
"Ree Ree Ree" part... but the rest of the score was nice)

ah yes, Bernard Herrmann!!

great composer. did a lot of Hitchcock films.

also did Orson Welles' "Citizen Kane", to name but one. :)

It's brilliant! I like 'The African Queen' too but it's
light weight and lovely.

actress who wore long gloves and was smart as chuff? It's
completely slipped my mind...

this new transfer is beautiful - absolutely no dirt or
artefacts to be seen. looks like a film shot now, in
black-and-white.

still have to watch the extra's.

great fun to hear all these quotes you already know so well
coming back at you. :)

ive been on a rear window kick. ive watched it about 4 or 5
times in the last 2 months.

the bird delivery/motorboat scene in The Birds may be the
most intense piece of film i've ever seen

*makes a small cameo in his own post*

every time I see Ingrid Bergman it's just creepy to see how
much Isabella Rosselini actually looks and sounds
like her.

I always think the playground-bench scene in The Birds is
masterful.

Tippi smoking her cigaret, all these birds silently
amassing..

I do feel that the ending of The Birds isn't that good.

kind of anti-climactic.

I may never live a full and healthy life until I get a
handjob from a Hepburn lookalike. Wearing the gloves.

Having soiled this pleasant thread, I'm off to bed. In the
shed. Completely unfed.

fell asleep. It was boring, plus I was tired. I don't plan
