Ok, so you know how you count time by going up to 24:00, or
is it 23:59 and then you start over at 00:00? Well anyway,
that's part of my question, the other half is when people
ask for the time, do you reply: "The time is seventeen
thirtyfour, or do you say "it's five thirtyfour"? I've just
always kind of wondered about that.

why do you spell things like honour and colour with a U?
isn't that just unneccessary typing?

british -> why do you call french fries "chips"?

french -> if french fries are really french, why aren't you
all as fat as americans?

why do you all continue to speak languages that AREN'T
English when Hollywood has told us through cinema that
English will be the only language left in the future?

what's the deal with the netherlands? i mean, come on.

do you hide your natural resources out of fear that we will
bomb the fuck out of you if you have good ones?

how does it feel to know you will be part of "REALLY east
america" in the future?

No is the answer to your question Zephyr. i dont think
people use 24hr clock more in europe. only on computers and
digital clocks sometimes... obviously not on normal clocks.

british -> why do you call french fries "chips"?
chips and french fries arent the same, french fries are
thin, chips are thicker and taste more like potatoe.

french fries are actually from belgium

and we still use the 24h thing (like alarm clocks, but on
digital watches too, tv, video,..), but we don't say
seventeen when it's 5 o'clock in the evening.

Anyone who isn't in the army and says the time twenty four
hour style is obviously a cunt.

Agreed, I use 24 hour clock on my watch/phone, but never say
17:34 it'd be 5:34, or almost twenty five to six.

:)

I never use 24hr is never used in spoken time, it is used on
some bus timetables etc, but in areas of high unemployment
and low education they do the time in AM and PM (this is no
lie :D).

I spell with a u in the words because they would have to be
pronounced completely differently otherwise.

I never call chips "french fries". I never even use the
term french fries.

I think most Europeans at the moment are sort of enjoying
the US' slow realisation that their domination is slowely
coming to an end. Next up to the plate CHINA :D

I apologise for poor grammar and spelling in my previous
post. I had sex last night and it effects my ability to
think properly for the following 24 hours :D

Sometimes people say seventeen fortyfive. Announcers on TV
for example. Most people just say quarter to six, in
everyday life.

I thought UK used 12H clocks with the AM and PM crap.

1. French fries and chips aren't the same thing.

2. Unlike the Americans, the French know when to stop
eating.

there is this "french paradox" thing, with red wine probably
and stuff... also, i read the portions in usa are bigger
than in france (sometimes a lot bigger), and in usa people
eat faster than in france... according to what i've read
anyway!

(there must be other things too, maybe in usa people drink
more coke? with the huge amount of sugar contained in coke
it must have an influence...)

i don't like french fries or chips a lot anyway and i don't
know why they're called french fries (for us fries are
mostly a belgian thing)....

i don't remember seeing "24:00", it's always "00:00"... and
as for am/pm 12hr or 24hr time, most people say it using
12hr "system"... i personally don't care, most of the time i
use 12hr but sometimes i use 24hr for no reason.

Logically speaking
colour is pronounced 'Kulhur'
and color is pronounced 'Kul-ore' - which sounds dumb.

Chips - Potatoe chippings
oven chips over here have different types....

Original
Beefeater
Crinkled
American style 'French fries'

weird eh?

oh, and another thing... AL-U-MIN-I-UM FOR FUCK SAKE!!!!

JA!! ALUMINIUM!!! ^^

as for american/english variations of some words
(colour/color, elevator/lift)... i always forget which ones
are english or american, so i use either one or the other,
whatever i feel like =)

i just know that when it's "ou" it's english and "o"
american, i use "ou" in general because i think it looks
better...

rebuttals:

see there's an irish guy that i know and he always tells me
it's pronounced aluminium but i check the box and it
"ALUMINUM FOIL" only 1 i. you guys are wrong, or someone
at your home products factory put a typo into the computer
and you are all using the wrong word as a result.

we pronounce color "kuller" do you pronounce it "kull-oar"?
also "fave-er-it" (favorite) and "ahn-er" (honor) are the
other correct pronunciations and spellings.

the french need to be cool like us and get 3 orders of
french fries with 2 triple cheeseburgers. that's the only
way to maintain a healthy diet.

the US will be the governing force in the new world order
because we have JESUS on our side.

"OWr"

What ever you heard about Americans is not true. We really
are fat, loud and stupid. And we all have stock at
Mcdonalds and eat there religiously. Every single one of us.
