*MILD SPOILERS*

I saw this movie this weekend. I think it could become my
favorite Tim Burton film. It is deffinately not as
stylistic as his other films. But it absolutely has the Tim
Burton flavor. It is very much a story driven movie, that
being its central premise. It's about unraveling the
mystery of a man who's whole life has been told in fantastic
tall tales; separating the fact from the fiction. Its also
very much about the reconciliation of the rift this
uncertainty has driven between a son and his father. It
moves along a bit slowly here and there, digressing and
going off on tangents but all of this is justified in the
end, the movie playing out like one of the father's tall
tales.

so yes, i really loved BIG FISH and think it is in my top
five favorite movies of the year behind (of course) Return
of the King.

anyone else see this? if not, i think you should.

I just got home from the theatre.

I must say this film is pretty damn good. The ending of the
movie made me pretty emotional, I kept thinking about my
relationship with my own pop. I liked Helena Bonham Carter a
lot in this movie. Even though she didn't have a very big
part, it was much less annoying than Marla Singer. ;) Props
on all the other acting in the movie, everyone should see
it.

well i finally seen it, I think it's definately one of
Burton's best movies. The ending is one of the best endings
to a film i've ever seen.

Music by Danny Elfman was excelent as always.

This film deserves a thread as long as the lost in
translation one!

i loved this film

probably one of the best movies i've ever seen....i just
loved the whole message and feel to it and how everything
was happy for a change.

i totally loved it as well. it is sad to see it was passed
up for any oscar nods. it certainly was in my top 5 for
movies last year. and i thought it was better than Mystic
River and fucking Seabiscuit. Seabiscuit even got an art
direction nod which is retarded.

At the very least it deserved an original screenplay nom.
especially because nobody even saw Dirty Pretty Things or
The Barbarian Invasions. well maybe those were better. i
didn't see them (or really even hear about them) either.
But then, The Oscars are a joke anyway.

it would have been nice for Big Fish to get a little more
exposure, but i suppose this way, it has more chance of
becoming somewhat "cult-ish" in coming years which is one
quality i appreciate of all of Tim Burton's filims.

i tell ya, i watched it a second time and even though i
loved it the first time, it was kinda boring the second
time.

i guess it's like, when you know all the punchlines to all
the stories, the stories themselves lose their appeal. I
started to understand why billy crudup's character was so
sick of hearing his fathers tired old stories.

anyway, i liked it but i have no desire to watch it again.

ive oretty much had the same experience.

first time i saw it in theaters, i almost cried and was
absolutely blown away. second time, was a bit meh.

then i bought the dvd, and watched it again and started
realizing how fucking annoying edward bloom is.

so i havent watched it again.
