Everything went so well today- The garage fixed my car before lunchtime and it was about 1/4 of the price I expected to pay. I did a load of reading for a law essay. I played some of my best games of Soul Calibur 2. I've made some excellent synth patches and started a new track I really like so far. I found a new scratch sentence on a record. A brand new copy of Analog Worms attack 12" should arrive tommorow. Nothing went wrong at all... I can't believe what a good day I've had. Now to read some HP Lovecraft and get some sleep.
Sorry for turning the board into a blog, but it was such a fantastic day.

Darius- whilst it was pretty boring, it's good to get it out the way. The fact I did some work means that my otherwise perfect day isn't tinged by guilt at leaving coursework till the last minute.
Cheers Acrid :D

i think oizo was massivley underrated by a lot of people who dont really like techno after the novelty of flat beat had worn off with them.
pity really. i have a 12" of 'last night a dj killed my dog' somewhere.. theres so nice remixes by herbert, alex gopher, shalark & demon

yeah. although i've never really looked at him as techno, moreso as what i'd just call "beats". i mean, it's not exactly hip hop or old school, and it's not got that standout electronic feel. but it doesn't really fall into any other genre for me, so for me it's good beat music.

i guess so.. though when i say techno - i mean minimalistic techno.. a lot of his music does fit into that niche..
if we have to classify styles - which i feel usually detracts from the music itself.
for example, a thread i was reading on here earlier where people were recounting the first time theyd heard 'idm' - someone told the story of the first time they'd heard orbital & saw - then a whole debate kicked off about it not being idm.. that it was techno, or ambient, or ambient techno .. bla bla bla

That gridrunner game is quite fun and weird and it can be really cool in a sensory overload way when you simultaneously use the sheepie zapper and have that giant sheep floating around the screen with the lightning criss cross. The sounds and visuals all together when that happens is quite awesome. The only thing I don't like about it really is it doesn't seem challenging enough (though maybe those higher levels in the purchased game are) and I suppose I'm not too fond of using a mouse as well as most analogue things. I'll check out that other one you recommended too.
