Is anyone else excited to hear this? Otto Von's
involvement in this along with cEvin Key's movement into
more experimental "idmish" electronic and away from
industrial makes me think there will be interesting results.
(Although even when Puppy was doing their darkwave stuff it
transcended anything else really going on at the time).

I came into idmish electronic out of industrial music (it
seems many come into it either out of the industrial or rave
scenes, since it is in some ways a bizzare marriage of the
two) and although I moved away from most industrial cEvin's
work continues to interest me. It would be interesting to
see him do a collaberation with Autechre or something.

The way I see it is whatever Skinny Puppy is doing is
industrial. They fucking started it.

If the Sexpistols came out with a Disco album that is the
new punk lol.

As usual, hoping for the best, expecting the worst. cEvin
and Ogre haven't put out anything I could enjoy in such a
long time, not including albums of older material previously
unreleased, i.e. The Dragon Experience

skinny puppy are the same people who are in download and
cevin key?

tibbar: The Dragon Experience was older material,
previously unreleased. I don't think it sounds amateur, but
if it does, you have to keep in mind the era in which it was
released. If you're spoiled on modern electronic music, it
just may sound "amateur"

user: Skinny Puppy was mainly cEvin Key, Nivek Ogre and
Dwayne Goettel. After Puppy was put to an end, cEvin focused
mainly on Download. Nivek Ogre (vocalist) wasn't in
Download, and Dwayne died just as Download was beginning.

ah, but download's first few albums used a TON of material
dwayne had recorded during the furnace sessions. word is
that it spread across furnace, microscopic ep, charlie's
family, sidewinder ep, and the eyes of stanley pain.

after dwayne's material was "all used up", download went
another direction (also because of mark spybey leaving, good
ridance). the core then shifted from cEvin, dwayne, mark &
philth to cEvin, philth & hiwatt. after a few more albums,
philth sadly also left download.

that pretty much kills another download album.

key's been doing solo stuff (and developing his talents
quite far).

still, i hope that aduck (dwayne) solo lp comes out
someday... which it prolly wont, sicne dwayne's family wont
let cEvin have the rights.

btw, user:

i dont know if youve never heard them before... if not, then
i recommend you check out the following:

skinny puppy - rabies
too dark park
last rights
cevin key - the ghost of each room
download - the eyes of stanley pain
III
ohgr - sunnypsyop
v/a - paradigm shift compilation (the entire thign is
unreleased tracks from those people's various projects. one
of their best releases thoguh)

I still think "Last Rights" is the best industrial album
ever created.

that paradigm shift comp is dope. some of the goettel solo
stuff on it is supreme.

my favorite Download album is "Furnace" though.. "Bee
Hatch" is probably my favorite Download track

i tatooed the "SP" skinny puppy logo below my left knee with
a safety pin and caligraphy ink. I used to be hard core.

evolume: a) last rights IS the best industrial album ever.
b) paradigm shift IS dope.
c) furnace is good, but a bit too noisy for me, and spybey
and especially p-orridge's vocals piss me off.

yeah, it kinda gets a nostalgia vote from me (furnace) and
that Bee Hatch track is the sweets.

I'm not excited. I'm never excited about this ''reunion''
stuff. With such low hopes, maybe they'll surprise me. But
I'll take Bites before any new glossy modernized production.

phecks: they broke up a number of times actually... this
isnt the first puppy "rebirth". they broke i think 3 times
before (drug related, im sure). personally, i think most of
what ogre and key have done SINCE puppy has been a build up
to a great puppy album. if you listen to key's 'the ghost of
each room', particularly "frozen sky", youll see a new puppy
emerging. i personally say: take all that you learned form
download, ohgr, plateau, doubting thomas, etc... and throw
it all together and let puppy be somethign new. i would hate
to see last rights or the process part 2. i want something
new and bold from them, which is what i always loved about
them in the first place. i dont see this as like a sex
pistols reunion, these are 2 best friends who have ended
their feuding over the tragic death of their mutual partner,
and are ready to breakthrough with somethign new and
exciting thats been highly anticipated (even on their own
parts). read an interview with key about 2 years ago that
said he feels like hes been doing music with ogre so long he
actually finds himself writing with his voice in mind, or
somethign along those lines. i just think its the way thigns
ought to be. there should ALWAYS be a skinny puppy, as long
as those 2 live.

in my top 5 for best musical group of all time.

it is their MASTERPIECE~!!!

you can see how it influenced alot of modern electronic
(autechre has admitted this of their work).

it is epic and deep. 2 thigns which usually dont go together
so well, but this is easily as tragic a work as any
shakespearian play.
