Yes I have :)

I've not had as much chance to play with it as I'd like for
a number of reasons:

I was delivering scout post most of sunday.

I was the laziest I've been in months today.

I've been practicing scratching so much that my
comparatively new fader is crackling.

Advance Wars 2 on the GBA is insanely addictive.

But I shall have a quick go now before Titsworth & Lecoeur's
show comes on.

Try recording some scratching to a click track and put that
plug in on it for a new style.

Ta- will do I, FXed scratches is something I've dabbled
with, but have been meaning to have a more in depth look at.
I was using the Electribe through my kaoss pad to provide a
drum line to scratch to earlier on today really catchy
rythm, I wrote all the settings down so I should be able to
recreate it.

PS you've just made me realise how I can practise scratching
using headphones... I can't believe I've not thought of that
before.

whatever you do ceri, don't ever, ever use any of those
preset "instruments" on that chaos pad..
this kid who was trying out for my group kept doing that
dumb, lag-ridden "skritchy-scratchy" type sound in our
songs, and some of those other cheesy effects that are on
there..
it made we want to vomit..
luckily we eventually gave him the boot.. after hearing his
sampler loaded with fruity loops demo sounds..

"Ive been alone most of my live..."

Um, we are born alone and we die alone. Just because you
hang around someone doesn't make you not alone. You are
trapped inside your body just like everyone else, we are
all alone. Thinking that getting a girlfriend will make you
not alone is ignorant. If you cant be happy when you are by
yourself then you wont be happy when you are with someone
else either.

He he, yes, the kaoss pad is a tricky beast- it's very easy
to make it distort (in a bad way) if there's any amount of
bass going into it and if you don't show some restraint when
using it it sounds awful. The sampler is pretty poor and I
don't use it anymore.

well i think the main idea is to not use it as an actual
instrument, like that kid was trying to do..
i think it sounded pretty good just for live effects
manipulation, like running a sampler/voice etc through it..
but that's about all.. it's not something that i could see
being used for timing-crucial things, since the pad is
pretty laggy, even on Kp2 model that my friend purchased..
but it could be a great tool if used in the right ways.

Pooh's mate "Eyor"? Yes, I see the similarity :)

Q4Z2X: Yep lag is a real problem when playing with other
people or in time to a record... bizarely, some of the
effects on it seem to introduce more lag than others even if
they're not delay ones... perhaps they use more "cpu" and
there's a slight pause before it processes it?

* I don't use the sampler anymore- I use the pad all the
time.

yes, that makes sense..

but i'm sure it could be used very nicely for slow
atmospheric effects, or if the sounds affected with it were
chopped up and fed back into a real sampler..
but then that kind of defeats the whole purpose of the
thing.. with the "real time" aspect. especially when
"cutting up" the sounds means feeding your sounds through
the effects on the pad, then into the computer, then back
into the sampler, when almost all of the effects could be
recreated with software, (maybe with more customization of
the effects in some ways, less in others) but it would
probably mean better sound quality..

then, i suppose..real time effects it is!
