My live show last night

Alright - my live show was last night.

Here's what happened:

I was scheduled to go on at about midnight at this house
party. There were about 25 people there at first (which is
twice as much as my usual intake). The first band was decent
punk, then more people came in. The second band was a
two-man bass and drum hard rock thing - pretty damn good
too. And then there was 50 or more people there. So of
course I'm super excited.

Then - one of the BEST BANDS I'VE EVER FUCKING SEEN comes on
and puts on one stellar set - they were called Swirve - and
they consist of a trumpet player with effects pedals and a
drummer - both HIGHLY SKILLED. Of course, I did not sweat
it, that just meant I had to try harder to prove myself.

So, after they finish, nearly EVERYONE left. And it was more
like ten people there, and throughout my three-hour set, a
maximum of 6 people were in the room the entire time.

However, I did bootleg the set (a 45 minute recording) which
i will put up sometime this week. And the leader of the
collective I'm on sincerely apologized to me for everyone
leaving, and promised to score me a gig at a nice venue in
Denton. Plus, I met another musician with the same tastes as
I (and he's awesome.)

So, that was not as good as I had hoped. But I did gain some
experience from the live set for future shows. I was still
disappointed though. :(

I did play Bionic Commando though - which someone recognized
- and highly enjoyed. So I guess that's a victory there.

lee - okay, so it's not a bootleg - but a live recording.
give me a break. :P

skink - my set is usually my PC, effects processor (which
allows me to add a lots to my music really) and also a
keyboard (which was absent last night). you'll be able to
hear it soon enough - hopefully this week.

I just checked your location 'metrognome' and that's one of
the lines from 'the laughing gnome' by david bowie, which is
the pre cursor to 'funny little man' by aphex. check it
out, it's a funny song..

thanks. i'll do that.

i don't know if they chose that name as a bowie reference -
you see this area i live in is usually called the
Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex - hence the "Metro" bit - and the
play on words - "Metronome" / "Metro-gnome"

can't wait to hear the recording. three hours seems like a
very long set, that's impressive! don't feel bad about the
crowd - i once played a gig and everyone left except my
friend (and there were about 40 people at the start). so we
mostly played to an audience of one and when we finished
everyone came back to see the next band. it was great.
