Anyone noticed how much AFX is being used as background on
british TV nowadays?....Bothe Ch4 & the BBC....

My other half is getting sick n tired of me going "APHEX!!"
everytime one crops up (the other night there were 5 diff
examples...)...

pity...it's quite a thrill, if you're a sad AFX phan like
me, to suddendly hear some Rich where least expected...

And did you see the MERC ads with Windowlicker?...Utterly
bewitching stuff both visually & sonically...I'm on a
promise to get a DVD of all of those, so fingers crossed....

i thought the merc ad which used windowlicker was poorly
executed.
pity to waste such a great song.
thought the way they cut up the track & re-edited it spoiled
the rhythm of the ad.
didnt think the visuals married with the track very well.
but thats just me..

very true.
i really respect the way afx took cash for tracks for all
kinds of ads. its shrewd business..
(no sarcasm intended)

Yes - very shrewd to say "Yes" to some suited fucks offering
money to help hawk their product... what an unusual way to
rape yourself.

err.. yes(?)
i hardly see it as raping yourself.
its just making money out of people who are all fashion and
no taste..
according to the stories that go round about ads he made
music for, he collected the cheque & then produced something
totally unusable..
not exactly a rapee (is that a word?)

I LOVE the nike add with that runner.... they used garden of
linmiri..... and one anti-drug commercial...... that's the
extent of Aphex in the U.S........ and both are discontinued

They played almost every track of Geogaddi on a PBS
documentary on dealing with terrorist bombings.

Other than that, I've heard Radiohead played during the
credits of the Sopranos

Yeah, I always get exited when aphex is on the telly, bit
sad really, but hey. Its nice to see that tv sound people
are able to play good music, not some of the crap they are
forced to play.

I think TV is great for music, a number of programmes have
excellent incidental music and/or themes, which would be
great releases too, but are often unavailable. I tried to
get the music off of Castle which was on Channel 4 about
6months ago, and hit a brick wall, got a letter back saying,
no.
So with good music like aphex, people can contact the
stations and instead of saying it was a private commision
and not giving out any info at all, they can say, oh thats
aphex twin, off the album drukqs. much better!
Top Gear is a good programme for music too, ive heard boc
and ae something off draft if I recall. I'm not really into
cars, and don't love driving, but I watch it for the great
music and the interesting camera work.

Hopefully RDJ gets some cash for this. I agree with jand.
The merc add+windowlicker doesn't really work for me.

looks great on the fencing scene.
