I only studied biology upto a - level so excuse my
ignorance, but is it possible to make a monkey talk, i
thought they were 99% human or something like that

The best discipline to attack this question is information
theory. You see, in english for example, there are only 26
letters and only so many ways that these can be combined to
form words (that aren't inconveniently 1,029 letters long).
However the number of possible combinations is very high
since you figure you can take a F, slap an "o" vowel on it,
or a "u" or a "i" and add any string of additional letters
in a huge numbr of possible combinations. Now each of these
"words' can symbolize a different thing. Now a monkey
probably doesn't talk per se, but has similar symbolic
sounds. Perhaps an "eeh eeh eeh" is deciphered as "you have
a sexy hairy palm" and perhaps a "ooh ooh ooh" translates as
"watch me throw poo at the zookeeper". Their spoken language
likely isn't as combinatory as ours. In a sense they have an
alphabet with no words. BUT this is entirely excluding the
little known concept of lower primate ESP. Monkeys have a
truly rich language, much richer than ours, if you just pay
attention to the pure energy traveling in their neurosphere.
You have to use a specially calibrated infra red camera to
see this, but if you had one, and if you were smart enough
to hold your own intellectually with one, you could talk
with a monkey.

apes have been taught symbolic languages (english-related
and otherwise) up to 600 or 700 words or so.. usually they
sign it (i.e. use their hands) because their mouth/vocal
chords aren't suited to making human sounds

how about modifying through surgery an ape's vocal parts in
order for it to speak

i know this is cruel, but people have grown an ear on a
mouse's back before

maybe animals have some interesting ideas to share

i understand what you say wmw, i wonder if a child and
monkey was nurtured together from birth, nutued via the a
shared set of symbols would they be able to communicate to
each other, then the child could be taught to communicate
with humans, hence act as the link between man and monkey

i am in the process of communicating with a wasp, the only
thing is he does not have much to say, he does not want to
share my trouble i am having with the ladies and he does not
facny having a drink down the local pub, i dont know why i
bothered, i could have at least started to talk to a praying
mantis in order to find out if he is really camp or the
reason for the double gay wrist stance is due to a medical
reason

What is it like in the united kingdom? I picture it sort of
like certain levels in mario brothers 1, especially levels
with clouds in them. Over here in poshnu, we have a product
called "corn". Do you have this product?

Even if you modded them the appropriate grey matter wouldn't
be set up to operate it.

Animals talking is a sign of demonic possesion. The only way
to deal with it is behead them and burn the corpse. :P
