That's most of the stuff on Sky, but they do have the Sky
Cinema channels which show 'classics' all day, including
some foreign language stuff.

Of course, having Sky+ doesn't limit you to Sky. There's
FilmFour and the terrestrial channels. BBC2 has shown lots
of great films lately, even Five showed Gummo!

FilmFour isn't what it used to be since they closed World
and Extreme and started showing teen slasher flicks under
the guise of 'cult' cinema, but it has it's moments.

I'm hoping that the BBC will launch a film channel - it's
been discussed. Free of a commercial imperative it would be
free to show some brilliant stuff.

do you have a favourite film of his? I absolutely loved
Solaris, my first Tarkovsky film. I remember the first few
scenes being magnificently shot, like each scene could be
printed and framed. I also noticed the way he doesnt rush
scenes and doesn't rush the viewer to think about whats
happening. I even loved the much maligned 'highway' scene
:)

I should be getting Stalker in the post tomorrow, looking
farward to watching that one.

yes the highway scene rules... don't let anyone tell you
otherwise... i could wax poetic about the virtues of
tarkovsky for an indefinite period of time... but that time
is not now...

my two favourites are Stalker and Mirror... i think Stalker
may be the finest film ever made (obviously: imho), but
Mirror is the sort of gorgeous visceral puzzle that i will
still be working on for years to come...
