RAMEN Noodles!

As I prepare to make myself a pack of the cheapest and yet
most tastey college food out there, I want to know what your
thoughts on Ramen are! I've heard from some people (okay 1)
that don't like it, but his opinion doesn't count (I mean
he's obviously criminally insane), but everyone else I know
loves the stuff. If you don't cherish the sacred Men of Ra,
I must know why, and if you do, then I ask this: How is it
so good but so fucking cheap?!

to quote an old infamous US crust band

"Five for a dollar
cooks in three minutes
Tastes great
Ode to ramen (2X)
Ode to ramen noodles"

dixit Destroy

Nice.. :D

I love how Ramen experiences the phenomenon of
reverse inflation, you can now get 6, and depending
on sales as many as 10, for 1 dollar! WooT! ;)

the extras I've got ;)

yeah, I started eating that shit by the boat load this year

8 for $1 at local store. 2 cups water, boil, cook three
minutes.

I'm eating all the left overs in the house too, kinda
scraping bottom here though.....

i usually find myself adding more orgainic products to
ramen, y'know, fresh vegetables and the like to improve the
healthy side of it.

I eat a lot of ramen that I buy at Asian markets. Kimchi
Bowl Noodle = the best.

Yeah, I love to add stuff to ramen! adding pieces of
real chicken or beef is always choice. ;)

only have slow 56k internet in my parents room over break so
I won't be on much, but I wish you all the best over the
holidays.. Don't do anything I would do! ;)

there is a great chain of ramen resturants called Ezo Giku.
There used to be one in Seattle but it closed. It was the
best ramen i have ever had.

Now, there are no good Ramen specialty shops in Seattle. I
think cheap ramen kinda ruined the market for it. Lots of
Pho. but no Ramen.

Pho is the broth right? *vaguely remembers Pho being
Vietnamese for soup*

I didn't even know there were resturants that carried
Ramen!! I always just thought Ramen was basically a cheap
version of real oriental noodles.. Man I wish I could
hit up one of those places!

Btw.. Seattle kicks SO much ass! My dad and I took a trip to
there and Vancouver last fall, and man were both cities
great! Seattle just had so much culture to it, I loved
Pike's Market and the EMP project (I went to both twice on a
three day trip!) ;)

(i know i've eaten some when i was in japan but i'm talking

where my culinary skills end.

Ramen Noodles make up 50% of my weekly food intake.

I've found that the best way to make your noodles the most
flavourful is to use less water. Case in point - when
cooking two packages of noodles, use about 1 and 1/4 cups of
water, rather than four. This makes it to where the noodles
have just enough water to be soft, and just enough dryness
not to be completely soggy. After the noodles are nice and
soft, pour out most (not all mind you) of the
remaining water, then quit cooking. Then add the flavor
packets and mix. Enjoy! It's mighty tasty.

I never usually apply that much care to the process of
making ramen. :D I always just put some water in a pan,
throw the noodles in, boil till soft, then drain most of the
water and add flavor packets! Voila~

How healthy is Ramen for you? I'm a broke ass college
student but I worry that Ramen just doesn't cut it
nutritiously.

i don't have picture posting capabilities, but soba is a
japanese noodle thats made of buckwheat and is quite
healthy. a fundamental part of nearly every meal there
apparently.

I barely cover the noodles in water, put in the microwave
for 3 minutes, put the flavor packet in, stir, and then pour
out all the water and eat.

sodium nutritious... but they are too damn good anyway ;)
