this song reminds me of WHALE song....only with more depth
.... it's very nice and relaxing.

i don't think you can say that about every AE song! ehhhhe

i enjoy this song. is the person (or one of the persons)
behind seefeel of the female persuasion?

the siger is Sarah Peacock who is (obviously) female.but the
main guy behind seefeel is Mark Clifford, who has also
released records on Warp under the name Disjecta.oh,and the
EP this year on Polyfusia Records.

this is an amazing track, i always tend to play it if im
doing really chilled dj sets at cafes or a lounge type
venue...

...as a release tho i think its a touch odd... if they
included the original spangle it would have been 10 times
more justifiable...

but not complaining... awesome track, happy it was released.

...and not to take anything away from the original track
either, its amazing too...

I like Seefeel, but the original Spangle has got nothing on
the Autechre remix.

The original Spangle is not bad, but Air-Eyes from the same
EP is so much more beautiful. Pure Seefeel-yumminess.

i just looked at this in the discography and am i bit
suprised to see that actual remix is from '94.

SEEFEEL were/are(?) so underrated...one of the very few
bands that successfully merged the bliss of IDM with Guitars
without it sounding like an after-thought....

Well worth picking up any of their albums if you see
them....I know AFX is a big fan (as shown by his wonderful
mixes, which actually make use of the original tune - a sure
sign that Rich respects em...)....

The AE remix is OK, but it doesn't hold up to the original
IMO.

imo far better than the original. one of the most beautiful
tracks i've ever heard in fact. i wouldnt mind autechre
doing a 'mixes for cash' album.

i remember reading an interview with Aphex where he was
talking about Seefeel and about how when he did the remix he
had so much respect for the original track 'time to find me'
that he couldnt bring himself to tear it apart.and how
Seefeel just blew him away because when he listened to their
music it just left him in a space or a void or something.

Oh yeah, I really recommend you to do so, I'm a big fan
myself :)

Their albums:
Polyfusia: Shoegazer electronica. Beautiful, droning,
swirling effected guitar loops. More Like Space is
fantastic.

Quique: A lot like Polyfusia, but more electronic and
more stripped down. Imperial and Plainsong are my favs

Starethrough EP: Lot less guitar effects, yet Sarah
Peacock's serene vocals are still in it. Ideal for chilling
out late at night. The original Spangle is probably my least
favourite on it.

Succour: A lot like Starethrough EP but more abrasive
for the greater part. Guitar FX, like in their Polyfusia or
Quique are hardly there or hardly noticeable anymore.

Ch-Vox: Soothing dark ambient soundscapes. Great
stuff for listening to in bed, if it weren't for Hive
brutally disrupting your being half-asleep. This release is
hardly representative for their work in general. Still an
excellent mini-album though, but hey, I'm biased ;)

Autechre can't be described with words, it must be heard.
Whenever I'm asked what kind of stuff I'm into, I don't even
try to describe it. I just pull out a cd and let them hear
for themselves. I don't think there is any point in trying
to describe it. I have never even read autechre describing
themselves.

Anyone could hear any degree of description on an AE song,
go and listen to it, and no matter what, it aint going to
sound like what you told them it was going to sound like.

if you don't, you'll be posting messages in about 3 or 4
years how you can't find this release anywhere and noone
ever offers it on eBay etc. etc. etc. etc.

um HELLOOOO i would very much like to see some people agree
with me on the cover art subject THANK YOU.

and none of this 'well cover art doesnt always need to look
pretty' rubbish.

it needs to convey the beauty of the music. this image
conveys how you'd feel after a raw egg cocktail.

damnit :(

it looks a bit amateurish, like someone made it at home on
their computer in about 30 minutes.

but it's not so bad as to warrant anyone to start yelling
"um HELLOOOO" as if she's some kind of character from "Sex
and the city"..

does cover art fucking matter? if the tunes are solid, so
what?
if i was bothered about art my 12" collection would be half
the size it is. dont get me wrong, i love a good cover, but
the lack of one would not stop me buying a release....but
then again i do listen to my records.

The amateurism of this cover pales in comparison to the MANY
Designer's Republic covers like on Port Rhombus EP, Venus
No. 17, GAK etc.

they're standard template covers they use for some releases
- my guess would be they use them if the artist isn't
bothered with having any coverart.

little trouble for them to create something random in 30

And even a simple template can be better looking than those
standard purple ones they have now.

That's just my opinion though, I'm guessing they try to keep
it as simple and neutral as possible.

yes i now regret the 'umm HELLOOO' thing, but i have never
watched a single episode of that show, just so you know. I
am deeply offended. 'as if she's a character from..' i
guarantee you that i'm not female, whatever you're
implying.

there are not many cases of cover art this awful imo, hence
my reaction. it struck me as extremely odd not having seen a
single comment on it.

simple and neutral is good. a white cover with only black
letters (in a decent font) saying 'spangle' would've done
nicely.

i agree that the music IS what a release is about, but cover
art DOES make a difference when you go out and buy records.

For example, the cover art for MHTRTC captures the entire
feel of the record in that single image, as does geogaddi,
imo.

maybe funkmaster could do a (another?) 'favorite cover
art?' thread. I'd like that.
