Why is the search function shit?

Seriously, how come the search function at this site isn't
worth a fuck? I try searching for "assault on precinct zero"
get no results, try "precinct zero" get no results, then
search for plaid and find a shitload of topics with the
entire phrase "assault on precinct zero." This isn't the
only time it happens, it happens basically every time I try
to make a search and have to end up trying to work around it
by searching for things that are related to it. I think
maybe there would be a lot less re-hashed topics around here
if people could actually find what they were
searching for?

if you'd try serching for only "precinct" (which is the most
uncommon out of those) you'd get 38 topics related...now you
can find quckly the thread you were looking for amobg this
38 im sure

but i agree, i cant find threads im looking for quite
often...

Don't search for three letter words? well thats good advice
except I didn't. If you are telling me not to search for
"three word phrases", then that as well would be the dumbest
thing ever based on the fact that any GOOD search engine
SHOULD be able to find "Assault+On+Precinct+Zero" if they
are in exactly that order (which they were). All I'm saying
is that asking a search engine to find a 4 word phrase in
this day and age is NOT a big deal.

Oh, and sorry I can't please everyone with my avatars. I
happen to think it's quite funny and that, in fact, you
suck.

don't get all testosterony!

You just can't. If you think you can do it better you know
what to do!

hehe, testosteroni- sounds like some type of pasta gimmick.
I may have jumped to conclusions, but I do this all the time
on search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc.. and I never have
any problems. So maybe they are better at programming search
engines (no offense phob)? I for one wouldn't be able to do
better but I'm just not used to having to make one word
searches. sorry.

i don't see phobia that much lately on here, or am i wrong?

But zephyr, you can ofcourse make searches of more than one
word, only make sure they are all longer than three letters.

It the search engine searched for three letters or less it
woul cripple the site.

Even including a filter wouldn't work as to filter out
certain words it would have to find them :S
