I'm wanting to try my hand at composing 3d animations with
the "cell shading" technology i've seen utilized in many
video games. Where can i find out more? I don't even know
what 3d soft studio that'd be best for this project. Any
sugestions on books/mags/net groups/irc channels is greatly
appreciated.

thanks!

try 3D Studio Max.
or Lightwave. both are good for
low poly modeling. there is also a
free 3d prog called
anim8or
. 3D is a slow process
and very time consuming if you gonna try it on your own.

I've seen a guy make awesome stuff in animator. don't be
fooled because it's free.

I used to do stuff in 3d studio max.
but a buddy of mine does all of his stuff in lightwave.
Lightwave works good with low poly modeling I've heard.
so I guess it's a bit personal. but I find the lightwave
interface kinda confusing

reflex I think your talking about maya, I use maya at
school, 3d animation is fucking time consuming, but the
results can be amazing, youll need a kick ass comp to run
maya and be prepared to be tied up for days rendering....
