I have an ipod and it fucking rocks. I'm glad to know about
that $99 replacement thing. Midiscs blow fucking whale nuts
compared to ipods.

i like how quickly people have their opinions swayed on
here.
anyway, you'd be doing yourself a disservice to not buy an
ipod, as its the best mp3 player on the market.

I'd be doing myself a disservice to spend 300-500 dollars
for something I don't need at all.

yes, it definately is a middle school hide-from-my-mom
classic.

Niggaz4life is also terrific.

I want an MP3 player as I do a lot of travelling and hate
carrying CDs around with me. I want something small and
light that just fits in my pocket. I want it to be easy to
use good at what it does. The iPod seemed like that. Then I
saw the video and it didn't seem like it. Oh man. I'm
confused now. Do I get the iPod or the Zen? I hear wonderful
things about the iPod all the time and the only thing I've
heard about the Zen is posted below/above. iPods are
expensive but very good. Creatives are cheaper so I can have
more storage plus they'd allow me to record. That'd be great
for recording mixes and stuff. What do I do?

i don't think the shocker is that the batteries need
replacing. it's that the battery is 100% proprietary, and
it's IMO vastly overpriced.

Don't buy a minidisc!!

Sony stopped making MD's a couple of
weeks ago! So I guess the medium
will be dead pretty soon! :-(

why do people hate apple?

i don't know... i'm no apple fan, i'm no microsoft fan, i
just use a mac because i like it and i don't want to change
to a pc, but for a question of os and habit mostly.

i can't say i never had any problems though.

i hear people saying apple computers don't have all the
problems pc's have... well, either i have bad luck, or have
no skills, either both worlds are full of problems.

i do have to reformat like twice a year, and now i'm worried
about a kernel panic problem that already happened to me
(and gave me a kind of depression) in june. i read mac os
10.1.5 was buggy. someone at the hotline also told me it
could have been the extra RAM bar i added. i don't know. it
stresses me a lot, i don't even know as i'm typing if a
kernel panic will happen on the next second, in a week, a
month, or never.

now as for 10.1.5, i'd have to get mac os 10.2 or 10.3.
which is a paying upgrade. that's nasty from them, they
could (should) have made a 10.1.6 upgrade so people who
don't want to buy 10.2 or 10.3 could get a stable,
problem-free platform (now don't get me wrong, 10.1.5 isn't
a nightmare either... it is pretty stable, like all mac os
x, but it has bugs...). i will probably get 10.3, but i
certainly won't pay for it. i don't like paying something
for my computer. it seems to me like paying for potential
problems. besides it is all far too expensive.

now, if you read all that, you'll probably think "apple
sucks! get a pc!" (or, even, "a real computer", pretending
macs aren't real computers... just go fuck yourself with
your computer racism). i still don't want to switch to pc
for that, because i like mac os, and also because nothing
proves me that i wouldn't have as much (or even more)
problems on a pc. after all, i never had any virus on my
mac, and none of my friends who have macs get half of the
problems i get.

i think someday, i will quit computers forever because i'll
have had enough of it. if i can. to be freed of all this
depressions,

i think someday, i will quit computers forever because i'll
have had enough of it. if i can. to be freed of all this
depressions, anxiety, and all trouble i get when i have a
problem (fortunately it's not that often and most of the
time it resolves quite well... by reformating). it is one of
the many things i'd like to be freed of, when i'm fantasming
about my fancied "next life"... (ha... ridiculous? yeah,
probably) - - - my macs have gave me much more good times
than bad times to me all over the years i've been using
them, but when i get a problem i totally panic and get
depressed and suicidal thoughts (i'm not even really
exaggerating) and i won't ever be using a computer again.

(and that might happen absolutely anytime now, of course)

...now all that 6.5 MB video just shows that the iPod
batteries are defective/not reloadable or something? i
didn't see it but it is really worth downloading? i don't
care anyway iPods are too expensive for me.

"The question is, are there similar
issues of the same magnitude with other major mp3 players?"

i have a Nomad jukebox2, it comes with a rechargable
battery...can be replaced for 50 dollars (a bit steep if you
ask me)

well if you get depression from your computer crashing then
you might as well pay for 10.3 Panther. Besides its not an
upgrade, its almost an entirely new operating system...
which seems to speed everything up too.

Ram could also be giving you problems, I bought some ram off
ebay and my computer crashed all the time, I took it out and
it was fine.

I dunno, £40 or so seems reasonable- it works out cheaper
than 2 years worth of 2xAA batteries :)

giginger:
10gb version is pretty cheap...

fukami!!! if this is true, i need to buy mine before other's
get wise, and up their ebay asking price! I'd like a sony
dvd-r portable device...especially one that could record
like some of their MD's do.

But for an extra £100 I could 6 times the storage on the
creative! Plus the Creative also records which is damn
useful.

nanotech: I'm afraid it's true! :-(
Several stuff (like the new upcoming n5MD compilation for
example) will be released on CD instead of MD simply because
it's not possible anymore to press them on MD!

pantalaimon > the thing is, i will be even more depressed if
i do buy 10.3 and that it doesn't solve the problem...

my problem could also come from RAM.
i don't know if there is any way to check this...

the thing is, my computer lasted like 9 or 10 months (with
the RAM) without any problems, then it had these problems,
and then again 4 or 5 months without any problem!... it is
really random... so i wouldn't know at all if the problem
was solved or not by changing RAM or by switching to
10.3...

with this problem i can never know whether it's cured or not
