...who try to DL your Soulseek shared folder (literally
every single file)? This is the second time it has happened
now. I would ask the individuals concerned, but I'd rather
not get into a conversation with utter lunatics...

sometimes you have mp3s from albums in yr general folder and
they come up in someone's search and they click on download
containing folder.. without checking first. happens to me
sometime.

That'll be me. I get a strange kick out of doing it using a
dial-up connection.

Ah that's probably it- there are couple of unfiled albums in
my download directory and all the other stuff is in
subdirectories within that.

Unshare the folder then. I can't see why you'd want to
share that folder IMO. I organise the downloaded files
before I make them available in SS.

Seems logical to me.

you actually spend time to organise your files before making
them available?

and you think that's logical..?

Well it makes sense to put the APhex tracks in an Aphex
folder, and so on........rather than a few hundred MP3s just
thrown together. So in answer to your question, yes I do
think thats logical :)

Jedi Chris is right. Each artist should have their own
folder. Fuck putting all your songs in a single directory.

my way of organizing my digital music files is superior to
your way of organizing your digital music files.

When I'm on slsk I have hundreds of "this folder is
offline.txt" files to show that a release is offline. You'd
be amazed at the number of tools who actually download them.

why would I make two folders?

Let's just say I wouldn't be surprised at all if the RIAA
knows about Soulseek.

I mean how couldn't they....just a matter of time till the
inevitable unfortunatly.

If you use soulseek and through it get access to loads of
interesting stuff I feel that it's only fair enough to share
as much as possible (which is not very much before soulseek
start to behave strange and freeze up). The sharing spirit
is what makes it work in the first place, it's just like
currency - a flow of capital (mp3's) that need to be in
circulation in order to have any value.
