Is it? or not? A friend told me about the project this week. He said Aphex Twin will come to Bruges,Belgium in April.
When I looked on the sinfonietta page (link) , I found two concerts! One in April(27th) and one in June(17th), on the same location. They do mention Warp, but they do not mention Aphex or Sqp...
The Concerthall's page (in dutch) mentions the two performances as well, but they mention Aphex and Sqp in the line-up of the June concert! (well...It looks like a line-up)
I dunno what to think... I'm confuzzeld and excitelled and all I want to know is.. Am I gonna see Aphex perform together with the orchest?
Oh.. Let's not forget about Mira Calix. I love her too :-)

looks like they are only gonna play 'translated' pieces by square afx and calix :(

Oh, Don't worry about that. They say it themselves! "De vrees ... ONgegrond" :-)
Let's hope there will be an afterparty anyways ^_^

sounds exactly like the thing Warp did in London about a year ago.
they also showed Warp video's in the break there.
does not sound like Aphex and/or SP will be there.

they also played pieces by Ligeti, Cage, Stockhausen and Ives then.
yep, looks like an exact copy of the earlier Warp event.

I would agree with you for the Warp arrangements. Not my cup of tea, but the Aphex one was the best of the bunch. That's not saying much.
I enjoyed the performances of some of the 'non-Warp' composers works though.

I have the bootleg and I thought it was very interesting. My favorite idm translation was the Boards of Canada piece they did. It made the transition to classical very well. The aphex and squarepusher pieces didn't, and were nearly unrecognizable.
